On Thursday, April 13, geocachers will gather across the world to celebrate the 11th annual Dönerstag.
You will earn the first-ever Dönerstag souvenir by attending a geocaching event on that day.

May as well make it this one.

About Dönerstag.

Dönerstag began in 2007 when German cachers met at kebab shops around the country all at the same time. They were trying to weasel their way into being able to log a Virtual MEGA Event. Even though that didn’t work, the tradition caught on!

These special events are held each year on a Thursday. In German, this makes the name “Dönerstag” a pun: The German word for Thursday is “Donnerstag.” Kebab translates to “Döner.”

Last year, over 6000 players attended 233 Dönerstag events. The events were held all over Europe, from Germany and Austria to the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Local Fox Valley cachers, we’ll join in Neenah to hold our own Dönerstag and we’ll join the world in the celebration.

A quick event, stop in for the whole time or just to sign the log. Attending the event will qualify you to earn the new GC HQ souvenir

Event will run 5:30pm- 7pm.
“Der” TOM’s Neenah WI (now it is German)

More to come as I think of it.
