Not sure if allowed but more of a question to those that have previously been(or currently still) on the BOD…
What value do you feel you can continue to bring to the BOD and WGA, I know some candidates have served short/others longer? Why are you wanting to continue to serve? Is it for fun, to see an idea or two through and finished, the socializing, running events, behind the scenes, fundraising, etc…?

01/22/2019 at 4:32 pm #2061984I want to be part of the BOD because who wouldn’t want to be? Lol I want to be part of a winning team. When I was part of the board for a short time it really helped with my social skills. I wasn’t good in crowds but the WGA family really helped. I really enjoyed the planning and getting to know others I would not have met. When one of your ideas get used it is the best feeling. When it comes down to why it is all them the fun, the ideas, the socializing and I have met some of my best friends because of the WGA and being part if the BOD that is why I would love the opportunity to be part of it again. Thank you.

01/25/2019 at 9:33 am #2062019I have tried for the board twice before and have not been unfortunately successful. I think I could bring a lot of great assets to the board. I have some great thoughts for updating the website and getting kids more involved in geocaching! I think the WGA is a great organization and I hope I can add to it with my own experience!
01/26/2019 at 2:15 pm #2062038I believe that one of the best assets I bring to the Board of Directors is my troubleshooting skills. My job requires me to troubleshoot on a daily basis, and I feel that I am quite good at it. Looking at a situation analytically and deciding the best course of action to realize the desired result has always come easily to me. Early in my first term on the board, we were presented with a very difficult situation that required quick action. There was not very much past precedent to work from, and the WGA bylaws did not provide us with any guidance. The board came to a decision that an amendment was necessary to properly handle the situation, and I challenged myself to quickly draft an appropriate amendment that would clarify the proper course of action for future boards.
I want to continue to serve the Wisconsin Geocaching Association because I feel that there is so much I can do. I know I have just scratched the surface of what I can contribute to the WGA. As a member of the executive board of my local union, I am developing my leadership and organizing skills through conferences and training that I feel I can use to benefit the WGA. I am strengthening my skills in html code to help better design our cache pages. I am forming new connections that I feel could benefit our organization.
I enjoy so many aspects of being on the Board of Directors. I am fond of the friendships I have made. There are so many people that have made an impression on me during my work on the BOD. I appreciate the skills I am building. Being presented with a challenge and discovering new ways to overcome has helped strengthen my abilities. I am humbled by the lessons that I have been taught. Even though things may not have gone as planed at times, I have grown from these experiences. I want to continue to grow not only myself, but our organization.
My posts should in no way be considered as the views or opinions of the WGA or its Board of Directors. All posts made under my name are my personal opinions only.
02/06/2019 at 4:25 pm #2062224Serving on the WGA BOD has been a way for me to “give back” to others who enjoy geocaching as much as I have. It has been an interesting ride, having served now with several different groups of people who have each brought unique ideas and talents to the organization. For me it has been about the members who come to learn more about geocaching or those who come to socialize while supporting the organization. As the veteran, I am asked for history and have seen changes that have happened in general with geocaching and have been able to explain the past. I would continue serving on the board because I have brought some financial stability with the merchandise sales and have more ideas in that area. I have always been into Geo101’s and education in general to get the word out about geocaching. I feel I have a bit more left and would enjoy seeing others around the state as our events move.
