As a current member of the BOD I have realized it takes a lot of time and energy to fulfill the obligations of being a board member. You have many duties as different committee’s, planning events and various other things that go on. Do you feel that you can take the time and energy from your daily life you have now and add in the various things you will have to do for the WGA for the next 2 years?

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

As a current BOD member, I am well-aware of what time and energy requirements there are. I am committed to continuing in my current role as treasurer for the next two years, if I am re-elected.

As I have served previously as well, I too know what time an mental efforts are required of a board member. I know I have the skills to prioritize my duties, life and BOD, as needed and also know when I need to reach out and ask for help. The board I served with were all willing to help when needed, and stepped up to make sure no one was over tasked. I also have a great support system in my everyday life, and these people know my passion for Geocaching and will also be there to step up and help me with my needs.

Bottom line, know how far you can stretch yourself and ask for help WHEN, not if, you stretch a little to far.

Reposting as I edited my original reply and it seems to have disappeared.

While it has been a while, I spent three of my four years at Kansas State in different levels of the residence hall government. I first represented my floor within my building Governing Board, then later was a building representative and eventual Vice President of the larger Association of Residence Halls. Over that time I helped plan events, coordinated technology to support board goals, and eventually headed up a committee that drafted and won approval of a complex new policy.

In my day job at Epic I work with customers to troubleshoot and address production issues, implement new software features, and meet their goals for success. At the same time, I also work on changes to our software, regularly meeting internal deadlines and quality standards. So I’m routinely juggling competing priorities.

I am sure that the WGA would be a new adventure for me. But between my governing board experience and my ability to juggle priorities successfully, I feel prepared to be successful with whatever it might throw at me. I would not have accepted the nomination if I didn’t think I could give this the attention it deserves.

My comments are mine alone and may not necessarily reflect an official stance of the WGA Board of Directors.

I’m pretty sure I can and live by an electronic calendar.  I use Google Keep as an organizer and task manager.  Shouldn’t be too difficult as long as I am not the solo guy doing this.

This has been the biggest question I have pondered and debated over myself with accepting to run. One major reason is there has been some family health issues that are still going that require my help and support. There is life, work, and more. But since moving to the Madison area I haven’t really gotten heavily involved with anything and figure that at this point there is availability to effectively contribute to the WGA and definitely where some of my passions are.
