Hello,
I am Kelly King, from Kaukauna WI. I work full time for Heartland Business Systems in Little Chute in the Sales as a Renewals Specialist. I have been with HBS for 5 years now, and plan to retire from there. I have one (adult) child that is currently attending USC working towards his Master’s Degree in Social Work. I have 3 cats and 1 bird that keep me company when I am home, and are able to fend for themselves while I am gone.
I began Geocaching in June 2014 after telling a co-worker I needed a hobby. He explained his experience and I was hooked! When I got home that day I did some online research and jumped right in with a premium membership. Today I am 4,100 + caches in with no end in sight!
Since I started caching I have made numerous friends, seen some of the most amazing things, gotten healthier and pushed my self out of my comfort zone more times than I can count. I have served a short term on the WGA BOD already, when a serving member had to step down. During my short term I feel I made an impact, and think I have much more to give.
I would like to continue to grow the Kidz Klub with more engaging projects at events and getting them engaged in nature and nature preservation. I would like to try and engage the “tweens” in leadership roles by helping with the Kidz Klub and keeping them interested in Geocaching.
I would also like to see the WGA rekindle relationships with local governments, the DNR and other organizations to keep a positive light on Geocaching and the WGA. The more groups that know the Mission of the WGA the more support and members we gain.
I have many other ideas floating around in my mind ranging from new merchandise options, to ways to keep events fresh and exciting.
I hope you will reach out to me with questions, comments or concerns so I can get to know you and earn your trust and vote for a position on the WGA 2020 – 2022 Board of Directors.
