Hello everyone! My name is Justin (plevajt), and I am very excited to have been nominated for the Board of Directors!
My Geocaching journey started way back in 2010 when my parents first started caching. I was home from college for the weekend and my parents took me to a small park and ride where they told me to lift the cover of the lamp post to see what was under it. At first a bit suspicious as to why I would do that, I eventually did and I couldn’t believe that something like this was hidden so cleverly in such a public place! Shortly after, I called a close friend and the two of us went on the first of many caching adventures! It took me about a year of using my parents premium membership before I finally got my own account — only to start back at zero finds.
Originally I grew up in the Waukesha area, and now reside about half way between Madison and Milwaukee. Outside of Geocaching I work for a large Telecommunications company in Madison as a Systems Administrator. Surprisingly, being a Systems Administrator has actually provided me with an interesting advantage in Geocaching. The ability to dive into a computer and troubleshoot an issues, has a lot of similarities with solving Puzzle caches — with both you’re searching to find the clues to the problem and work your way through until it’s solved.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions! I look forward to interacting more with the Geocaching community!
Justin
