Because the 9 members of the WGA board are distributed around the state, there are not a lot of in person meetings. Microsoft Teams is the collaboration tool used by the board, along with email, texts, calls, etc. What is your experience/comfort level in keeping communication of a team active remotely?
The views expressed here are that of myself only and do not necessarily represent that of the WGA board
We use Teams, FaceTime and Zoom for remote meetings on a weekly basis, so I am very comfortable with this sort of communication. Same goes for email and texting. Remote communication is a very good use of time and resources.
Thank you for asking because new Board Members need to know that Teams has been the tool being used by the WGA Board for planning and keeping everyone on track. It is important not only to log in, but to also be posting your updates which lets everyone know that you are working on things. It is the lack of posting that can be frustrating but also leaves others wondering what is going on.
99% of the meetings that I participate in at work are remote via Microsoft Teams. I am also familiar with other virtual meeting tools such as Zoom. I would say I am fairly comfortable, and tend to just search the internet for answers when I am unsure how to do something with an application.
I am very good with phone calls, though one drawback is that I am not a frequent emailer/texter (I know how well enough, I just do not check them frequently). If I know communications are coming I can make more intentional efforts to keep an eye out for those though.
