“Earth Day 2019 – Protect Our Species”

According to the Earth Day website, “Earth Day is now a global event each year, and we believe that more than 1 billion people in 192 countries now take part in what is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world.”

For more information, please visit the Earth Day website

It’s all about knowing the importance of keeping our environment protected and acting upon our knowledge. We hope you can join in to help celebrate the upcoming 49th anniversary of Earth Day by helping pick up trash throughout Sheridan Park with provided trash bags. (Please bring your own gloves, if desired.) We will also have a limited number of designated trash pick up areas in the park for those who prefer assigned areas.

We will have water and snacks. If you would like to bring a snack or beverage to share, that would be wonderful.

There are a number of existing caches that are available at or near the park. To keep with the CITO theme and intention, our focus for this event will be on trash pick up.

Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

Each person who logs an “Attended” for a CITO event in March, April or May of this year earns a 2019 CITO (Season 1) souvenir for their Geocaching profile.
