An introduction to GSAK – Geocaching Swiss Army Knife – the premier geocaching database program. It can be used for free, but with restricted capabilities. To purchase costs $30 – well worth it if you are a serious cacher.

This is a WINDOWS only based program. It can run on a MAC if you have Fusion, Parallels or a similar program that allows your to run Windows programs. Also, it works with Premium Geocaching Memberships.

In preparation for the class:
1. Download GSAK to your PC. You will be able to bring your laptops (if you have one) to the event.
2. Know your Geocaching ID number – under Your Public Profile, Edit Your Profile, Profile Info, Membership, Member number. Probably a 6 or 7 digit number.
3. Create a Pocket Query for your home area – ask for 1000 caches, all types. Transmit the request 3-4 days before the event, but do NOT download it.
4. Bring your GPS unit along with you, and the USB cord.
