Just 10 days left to the WGA picnic. Looks like a lot of people are signing up, which is great.

There are now 60 caches within 5 miles of the picnic, with many more on the way. So, those who want to stay the weekend and get a bunch of caches should be able to cache to their heart’s content.

Those who want to camp, should not have a problem. The area is beautiful, but they did not look full even on Labor Day, so finding a campsite should not be an issue for those who want to camp.

There are a number of new canoe caches in the area, so if you have a canoe or kayak, bring it.

There is the beginnings of a bike trail power trail that starts at the picnic area, and goes down the Old Abe trail, so if you have a bike, you might want to bring it.

For those who would prefer to socialize rather than cache all day, we are planning on having a bonfire near the shelter all day. There is a large fire pit where you can stay warm if it cools off a bit and meet a lot of other cachers.

Looks to be a great picnic, and I hope to see you all there.

    Hmmm…..

A shot at 1000 finds at this event?

Tempting. I’ll have to think about it.

I’m really looking forward to it! I’d like to meet more WI Cachers from the north. We checked out the park a few weeks ago and it was very pretty! But bugs galore! Make sure you pack bug spray!

That would be cool. Lots of easy ones in the area to make it possible.

It is beautiful, and you can pack bug spray if you want, but I doubt you will need it.

I was up there 2 days ago and 4 days ago, and the bugs are down to about 10% of what they were. No ticks seen in 2 recent trips up there, and just a few mosquitos that seem to lazy to bite.
