Congratulations to jstajlr and BakRdz for completing the Mascoutin Valley Trail series in just under 3 hours.

jstagjlr started at #1 and was working towards the final and BakRdz was working backwards from #10 and they met each other at #5. Neither knew the other was on the hunt, but they then teamed up to go for the final. No rivalry, but cooperation which is what makes this story so great.

Keep in mind the weather was cold and rainy while they were slogging down the tracks. I tip my hat to these great cachers for the stamina and effort to do this in this weather and impending darkness. I’m just wondering if anyone got a picture of the two blind (or I mean drowned) rats at the final. 😆

It couldn’t have worked out better if we had planned it. We started out almost at the same time. I was wondering if I should start at 1 or 10. BakRdz correctly guessed that I would be on this one and that I would start at 1 so he started at 10. We both surprised each other in the middle and I’m glad since my flashlight started to die. We both laughed when we thought of you seeing the logs come in and your 11 caches were done 3 hrs after being posted. Thank you CJ and Muddybottoms for a wonderful series. I’ll be out early tomorrow to finish the rest.

I agree with jstajlr. Couldn’t have planned it better. Only wish we would have had a camera along to document the moment.

Still felt like it wasn’t “officially” complete for me, so I ran for the other 4 I hadn’t found yet early this AM. NOW…within 17 hours of being published, the entire series has really been completed! I know there are people who could, if they chose, do the whole thing in less time, but considering the time it published (5PM in the fall) and weather conditions (wet, wet, cold, and wet)…and the fact I personally was not prepared for a 10+ mile multi, I still feel pretty good about this.

Thanks for putting it out there. I look forward to hearing about other people’s experiences with it.

FYI – went back to the final to drop a TB. Didn’t see any drowned or blind rats then. Did see a cat not too far down the path. Maybe he had a snack. 😉

Yes…well done boys! Very impressive to finish such a lengthy series so shortly after it went live.
