05/03/2010 at 1:05 am #1928290You got that one just in time. Congrats, by the way…
Only 88 virts left in the state.
05/03/2010 at 1:05 am #1928291Guess the owner doesn’t want to keep a little piece of Geocaching history alive.
oh, well…..

05/03/2010 at 1:25 am #1928292I would adopt (and I bet anyone else would too) any virtuals that would be going away…
…maybe send the owner a message and see if you can adopt them instead of him keeping them archived.
05/03/2010 at 1:34 am #1928293For some reason Groundspeak doesn’t allow people to adopt virtual caches. They can’t even be allowed to come back once they have been archived.
05/03/2010 at 1:37 am #1928294The weird thing is the owner emailed me and said “virtuals can’t be adopted or transferred, sorry.” I never asked for them. I went to see what virtual caches he owned and I seen he was archiving all of his caches.

Thanks for the congrats TBC
05/03/2010 at 2:22 am #1928296I clicked the links just to see where these were. Sittin and thinkin was the only virtual I have done. It was at a campground I went to a lot as a child. Now I will just have to sit and think about my fond memories of long ago, and of when I did the cache… 🙁 well, maybe someone local can place new caches there.

That actually might’ve been for me, I contacted the owner after I saw your post…didn’t know they didn’t allow them to be adopted.
05/03/2010 at 12:17 pm #1928298He emailed me before I posted anything in the forums. I actually found out what happened. The owner hasn’t been online in 2 years. Neonride93 noticed this when he was logging the one we did Saturday and asked the owner if he could adopt them. Well that must have awakened the owner and he just archived all his caches.
05/03/2010 at 6:50 pm #1928299Yea, I claim responsibility for these 🙁 When I was logging them I noticed he hadn’t logged in since 2008. So I did offer to adopt them, i had no idea geocaching.com wouldn’t allow it and I didn’t know he would take suck drastic measure. This sucks. I love Virts! A quick glance at some of the other virts we did on our run shows they are still owned by active users so that’s a plus! Maybe someday Groundspeak will bring them back.
Not to hijack this thread but does any one use waymarking.com on a consistent basis?? I have tried but I have no interest in discovering every McDonald’s in the country, so I havnt givin it much of a chance.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. The owner archived them not you!

LOL…. 😆
05/03/2010 at 7:00 pm #1928302I know but they were both easy to get virtual, and if i didn’t e-mail him he would have just deleted the logs like normal… O well your right Not going to cry about it or anything just putting the word out leave the virtual owners alone…if you dont bother them they wont do anything stupid or drastic
05/03/2010 at 11:42 pm #1928303Wow..That’s too bad. Not merely about the virtuals, but I’ve met Randy Paske a couple of times… Great guy. He’d been geocaching well before most of us had
even heard of it. I hope he’s all right. -
