During the month of January, nominations will be accepted for candidates to be members of the WGA board. A link can be found on the main menu that allows you to submit nominations. The procedure is outlined in the bylaws but summarized here:

    Immediately, the nominations are open.
On 1/29/2005 at 23:59pm the nominations will end and voting will begin.
On 2/13/2005 at 23:59pm the voting ends.

The first meeting of the new board will happen soon after. A new executive committee (President, VP, Treasurer, and Secretary) will be determined at that meeting.

In order to be a candidate, you need to have two people other than yourself nominate you. After the first nomination is received, Jeff Thorson (jthorson) will contact the nominee and verify that that person wishes to stand for election. If yes, the name will be posted on the election page. Once a second nomination is received, the nominee is a candidate.

There are 5 seats that need to be filled. Those candidates with the top 5 vote counts will become the new members of the board. Those members whose seats are up for election are the Beast, Sbukosky, The Lil Otter, GrouseTales, jthorson. The returning members of the board are kbraband, Jeff of Hot Dogs, Rhonda of WiSearchers and Brian Geoffrey (AKA ‘Tie’).

Details and clarifications will be handled as needed.

Just to save the poll workers (meaning me) some time and effort, jthorson and The Lil Otter, current board members, are not standing for re-election this year. We are honored by your nominations.

    Nominating tip:

    Generally:
Don’t tick off the poll worker.

    Specifically:
When nominating, please fill in the specific person you are nominating. Don’t just name the team. One team may have several eligible members. If you don’t know the name, find out, or use something that identifys the individual such as ‘Ms WISearcher’.

    So far…
74 nominations have been made by 23 nominators.

Is the nomination page supposed to be showing those with a single nomination as well?

Yes, if they answer an email from me confirming that they wish to serve. Many are nominated, but these agreed to serve. Once they are on the single nomination list, the seconds come within minutes

I very much enjoy reading the well thought-out statements we’re seeing from the candidates. Wow, I’d vote all of them if I could. I’m looking forward to the coming year of Board activity, no matter who get elected. Keep those ideas coming.
