01/17/2007 at 7:07 am #1767274I found it…and the CDrom drives in the bushes…had my pockets not already been full of trash I’d have picked those up to(ebay anyone?)
01/17/2007 at 12:22 pm #1767275Getting this back on topic, Since I kind of derailed it, but I have to take those chances when I can.
Anne, have you made a list yet of the parks that are being mentioned?
Like it matters because I started one anyway. These are just from this thread and in our area. If any one has more just add to the list. The List
Roe Park
Manitou park
Along the lakefront
Rat River wildlife parking areas
Adopt a highway01/18/2007 at 9:55 pm #1767276Thanks for staying on it Jim!! Just absorbing al the info at the moment. I am not familiar with Roe Park. Is it a City, Co. park??? Just curious. Sounds like one that really is in desparate need for sure! Just don’t throw the cache away!! LOL
01/19/2007 at 4:43 am #1767277Roe Park – small park in downtown oshkosh, high traffic area between the downtown Y and the Library. Not really used by much more than the daycare at the Y, at least not when I’ve been on the treadmill’s that look out the windows.
The park itself is roughly 1 block by 3 blocks, I’ve been around most of it, and the biggest probelm area is on the south side as that has the sidewalk on the border.
Unless I’ve made a glaring error in the trash rating or size of the park I
think a handful of people could probably get the whole thing in 2-3 hours.Hope that helps.
01/19/2007 at 1:45 pm #1767278Well just to add anpther can of gas to the fire… how about Fonfericks Glen (sp) up here in the GB area… We did the one and only single solitary cache there, and trash abounded as much as rocks and water (that day!!). That is a really nice county park, and could use some TLC.
Just another one for the list!

Nothing says we can’t do more than one CITO and they don’t need to be in April!! so…..keep adding to the list. If we see the need, I can toss together a Pre-CITO get together to discuss more ideas and a plan of attack!

AKA rush-2112What a shame! Its been a couple of years since I’ve been there and It was nice back then… thing that’s odd about it is that its so close to that farm, I’m never sure what is park property and what isn’t! Not sure if that matters though.
01/24/2007 at 2:43 am #1767281Coastiegirl (Linsey) was nice enough to get the ball rolling with Roe Park. SHe sent out an e-mail to the powers that be. She asked me to post the e-mail so those who were not Cc’d could read it and be aware that things are in motion. See below:

Subject: CITO Of Roe ParkHello,
My name is Lindsey Bruns, and I’m a part of a hobby called Geocaching, I’m not sure if you have heard of it or not, if you haven’t here is a website that can explain what it is!
http://www.geocaching.com/about/Now the Reason why I am emailing you is, I have recently been to Roe Park in search of a geocache there and noticed this park was just trashed, I was wondering if you would be willing to work with me a few other cachers on holding a CITO Event (Cache in Trash Out (also here is a website that better explains CITO http://www.cacheintrashout.org/)).
What I’m looking for is to hold an event that would bring several cachers together and we would clean up the park (pick up trash and so on).
Would you be ok with this? And would you be willing to help provide some things like trash bags, gloves and such?If you would like maybe we could meet and work something out?
I don’t plan on having this event until the snow melts and it warms up a bit. But I would like to iron out details so we can have everything ready to go when the events starts. I would love to help out in cleaning a park and show that Geocachers are the type of people that do care about the environment and want to help care for the parks that are around us. And provide great places to visit while Geocaching. If you would like to set up an appointment to discuss this subject,
Thank you and have a good day!SN Bruns, Lindsey
Station Two Rivers
Two Rivers WII didn’t fail, I found 2,000 ways how not to make a light bulb;
I only need one way to make it work.
~~Thomas Edison~~The people who are included in Cc. are fellow cachers who are interested in CITO event in NE Wisconsin, and probably be willing to help plan the CITO Event along with planning their own events at several different parks.

02/07/2007 at 12:41 am #1767283Well i still haven’t heard back from this guy yet! Kind of ticked off about it.. I think i’m going to try and contact Two Rivers Park and Rec. and maybe work something out with them and then try Oshkosh again.. someone else can try to contact them.. I’m tired of being ignored by everyone (not here but other people non-geocaching related no worries though) And trying to work through email and phone i hate doing that i rather talk to the people in person so they can see i’m very interested in doing something..
I’ll keep trying though maybe i will be making a trip up over and see if i can push my way in! oh well
And Hemi, i’m sorry i would of added you in the CC but i didn’t have your email address!! so thats partly why i asked Anne to post it here for me while i was at work..so you would see it too!
02/08/2007 at 1:03 am #1767284Wow.. i was looking at the Two Rivers Website, to see who to contact with the cleaning a park in Two Rivers, and Two Rivers has a Adopt-a-park program.. hmm something to consider???
02/08/2007 at 1:23 am #1767285Coastie,
Do you want me to contact Oshkosh via my Park/Rec email to promo CITO and geocaching to see if I can explain a bit more?
AuntieNae
02/08/2007 at 1:27 am #1767286That would be awesome! I sent another one today, If you could try, that would be GREAT! Thank you so much for helping me out with this!
