MemberI’ve seen a couple caches that have Red Jeeps placed already. New to the whole Jeep thing so, what are the challenges usually about. Is it advisable to release the Jeeps before the challenge is revealled on July 1?
(oh, yeah, tomorrow is July 1st) Anyway, same question.Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.

(oh, yeah, tomorrow is July 1st) Anyway, same question.I think there are two contests. One is for a Jeep itself, drawing to be held in January. That requires a separate registration. The other contest is a monthly drawing for a new GPSr. You will need to find a different Red Jeep TB and take your picture with it.
See: http://jeep.geocaching.com/
Remember, don’t forget to register for the ’08 Jeep.

MemberWell, mine is out in the field. I’m curious how long it will take for someone to visit this cache which had not been visited for 3 months….

MemberHey guys-
I noticed that there is a separate picture upload button for the Red Jeep contest (Upload a Contest Photo Entry). I have yet to upload my “American Heritage” picture, but I only noticed it after looking at other Red Jeep finds. I noticed people were simply logging a find and a picture.
So, you might want to check to see if you did yours correctly.
Also, it looks like there is a limit of 1 Red Jeep picture log per month per person.

The Groundspeak Weekly mailing has a request form link within it to request a Travel Bug to release for this years Jeep Challenge.
Quoted from the email (I think I can post this…):
“The 2007 Jeep Geocaching Challenge begins on July 1st, 2007 in the USA. This year, it’s a red die-cast Jeep Commander vehicle with a Travel Bug tag attached. As of today, we’re enlisting geocachers to hide approximately 8,000 Jeep Travel Bugs in caches located in the lower 48 United States. If you are interested in placing a 2007 Jeep Travel Bug into a cache near you, please complete the request form, located here (while supplies last):http://jeep.geocaching.com/signup/
Visit http://jeep.geocaching.com on July 1st for details about the 2007 Jeep Geocaching Challenge.”
I tried to signup to hide one of the Jeep TB, but the link to the signup page doesn’t work 🙁

MemberI’m sure the supplies ran out by now. They first opened up requests on June 15th. Your best bet is to find one in a geocache now.
I know we placed one in a Madison cache recently… 🙂
