This year we had a very close election. 4th and 5th place were separated by only ONE vote. Jennifer and I have reviewed and certified the votes.
Without further delay, here are the results.
Votes Name
98 Jeremy Vechinski
77 Becky Waldmann
60 Brian Geoffrey
51 Justin Korpal
50 Renee Vanselow
42 Ken Braband
40 David Secondino
37 Gary Hammel
29 C.C. Romnes133 members cast a total of 484 votes. This is a good example how important everyone’s vote really is.
Congratulations to Jeremy and Justin for winning a seat on the Board. Congrats to Becky and Tie for retaining their position for two more years.
A BIG thank you to all who stepped up to the plate to run for Board of Directors. It’s great that we have so many members who are willing to help out our organization.

02/12/2008 at 12:37 am #1884441I would like to thank all that Voted for all candidates this year. Every candidate on this list would make a great board of directors member.
02/12/2008 at 12:52 am #1884442Thanks to everyone who voted. Thanks to those who voted for me. Thanks to all the other candidates for being willing to take on a little extra responsibility in the name of the fun activity called geocaching. Everyone deserved a place on the board.

02/12/2008 at 1:20 am #1884444It looks like my “Just Do It!” message has crossover appeal, garnering support from Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike. With all this momentum, maybe I should consider a run for something bigger… like the White House? 😉
Seriously, thanks to everyone who voted for me. I will do my darnedest to fulfill all the campaign promises I made, starting first with providing more transparency into the activities of the Board. 2008 looks like it is going to be a great year for the WGA!
Also, thanks to all the members who took the time to vote, and special praise should be given to those who threw their hat in the ring and ran for the Board. Some outstanding candidates did not make the Board, and I hope coming up short this year does not dissuade them from running again in the future. I was also disappointed to see that even with this year’s hotly contested election, the number of members voting actually declined slightly (133 this year vs. 145 last year).

Generally, the term “winners” implies that there were “losers.” However, I dont look at it that way at all. We had several candidates this year, but here were only 4 open seats open, so just like a game of musical chairs run amuck, there are 5 very good people who did not get a seat on the Board of Directors. But you guys are winners in my book, and I appreciate your contributions to geocaching.
My advice to the 5 who did not win election this time around is take advantage of the many other excellent oppourtunities to advance geocaching in the state. For example, you might want to serve on one of our many committees. Community education, the web committee, or the committees that put together the campout and picnic events can use your talents.

02/12/2008 at 2:09 am #1884447Congratulations to those that won a spot on the WGA board. Thank you to both the ones that won a spot and the ones that did not for your commitment to the hobby, as well as your eagerness and willingness to take time out of your personal lives to help maintain, grow, and expand the geocaching opportunities within our state.

A big Thank You to everybody who voted for me.
I would also like to extend a very sincere thanks to everybody else who ran for a position on the board. We couldn’t have gone wrong regardless of who was elected.
02/12/2008 at 3:35 am #1884449This was the first election I’ve participated in with the WGA, and I really appreciated the thoughtful answers that all of the candidates offered to questions from members. I think that there were some great ideas on how the WGA can best serve and preserve our sport. Thanks to all who stepped forward to run.
02/12/2008 at 3:45 am #1884450Congratulations to all. All but myself deserved to be on the BOD. I just hope that everyone will still give all your opinions and thoughts to help continue to make the WGA an organization that represents ALL the geocachers in this Great State of Wisconsin. I will continue to help out the WGA whenever I can. Thanks to all those 29 votes too! That’s 29 more than I thought I’d receive! And thanks to all the members that took time to vote.
02/12/2008 at 12:09 pm #1884451Congrats! The organization seems to be in good hands!
02/12/2008 at 2:07 pm #1884452Congrats to all the new (and reelected) board members! Thanks to everyone who voted for me.
