The Map pages are set up different in the new 2008 version of the Delorme atlas. The maps start on page 20 and there are 76 map pages. Are there any plans to add the 2008 version to the stats?
01/12/2008 at 7:19 am #1883361Yuck! That is pretty bad news. The Delorme Challenge is set up based on the “old” version (it specifically calls that out in the cache description), so technically it is not a problem, but….
01/12/2008 at 2:29 pm #1883362You’re kidding… guess everyone has got to start over now. 😀 Actually according to the DeLorme site, the number of map pages and the scale HAS changed a bit in the 2008 edition:
http://shop.delorme.com/OA_HTML/DELibeCCtdItemDetail.jsp?item=350§ion=10096
Scale changed from 1:150,000 to 1:160,000, meaning everything was shrunk down a bit. I guess this is progress… kind of like how they keep shrinking down candy bars, resulting in today’s bite size “fun size”. 🙂
It may be a good time to start a new 2008 version of the DeLorme Challenge using the new Atlas pages and only counting finds starting in 2008. I know some people were chomping at the bit for “clean slate” versions of the DeLorme and Wisconsin county challenges that didn’t count past logs.

maybe a whole new one in addition to the old.Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
01/15/2008 at 10:57 pm #1883364I better not have to start over! I have 19 pages done so far and it’s been almost twenty years since a had been to some of those areas.

Then it’s about time you left ‘town’!! 🙄
01/16/2008 at 1:49 pm #1883366At this time, I have no plans on updating the DeLorme Challenge cache to include any changes to the maps, as there are quite a few that are in the middle and it would suck if they suddenly had to start over because a page that they thought was completed no longer is.
01/17/2008 at 2:41 am #1883367Thank you, Dave! We are less than 15 pages from being done and you’re right. It would suck!
