FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What will the coins look like?
See the images for the coin in the WGA Store. Will the coins be trackable at geocaching.com and have their own custom tracking icon?
Yes and yes… the tracking icon will be a cute little cow.
When will I get my coins?
Best guess right now is early to mid December, but it is somewhat out of our control. (You should have them for Christmas though… they make great gifts.) After we close sales, we have to place an order with the coin company, the coins need to manufactured, and then sent to us. Finally we need to package and ship the coins out to you.How many coins will be minted?
We will mint a minimum of 500 coins and if more than 500 coins are pre-ordered, as many coins as are ordered and maybe a few extra to sell at WGA events. We will not cut off sales early if we sell a certain number of coins. We expect to sell 500 to 1000 coins. Are the coins being sold for cost?
The coins are priced so that the WGA will make a small profit if 500 coins are sold. All profits will be retained by the WGA to be used for future events and other organizational needs. The shipping costs are approximately the actual costs to ship the coins via the USPS and purchase packing materials, so we aren’t ripping you off there either. Can I pick up my coins to save shipping costs?
No, we decided not to hassle with scheduling and staffing events to hand out the coins, mainly because the shipping costs are so reasonable.I live in Germany/Brazil/Australia/[fill in the blank with any country other than the U.S.]. Can I order Wisconsin geocoins too?
We are not offering any official sales to international addresses via the online store. However, Jennifer Mode (LightningBugs Mum) has offered to handle international orders. Please send your name, address, PayPal email and number of coins desired to lightningbugsmum [at] wi-geocaching.com to arrange for international shipment. She will calculate shipping to your country and send you a PayPal invoice. Your order will not be complete until the invoice is paid. Please make sure it is paid before the November 11th deadline for coin orders.I can’t seem to figure out how to order more than one coin. Is this possible?
Yes. Add the coin to your cart, and then view your cart (“Cart Contents” link in the upper right hand order). Change the number in the quantity (Qty.) box, then hit the Update button. Your cart should now reflect the new quantity and you are ready to check out your multiple coin purchase.Who is manufacturing the coins?
This year we decided to use Oakcoins instead of Coins & Pins.Still have a question about the geocoins? Post it here and we’ll get it answered and add it to our FAQ.

Don’t worry, you will get your coins. They have already been ordered from the manufacturer and baring any major problems will be shipped in mid-December.
We would have ordered 500 coins regardless of the quantity we sold during the pre-sale. We were close to our 500 coin target with pre-sale orders when we placed the order with the manufacturer, and now all have been spoken for (but not quite all paid for).

I think (nearly) everyone got their coins before Christmas, even with the later than expected shipment. Having access to all the delivery confirmation numbers, I spot checked a few orders from California and Washington and all were delivered either Monday, yesterday or today.
Next year (or whenever the next WI coin is produced), we promise not to cut it so close!
