02/22/2009 at 5:48 pm #1902424Lake Lenwood looks pretty decent. Anyone camp there before? Comments?
02/22/2009 at 7:41 pm #1902425It is a nice place. Family oriented, quiet. You can fish in the lake. They used to have paddle boats you could rent too. Nice beach and very small play area for the kids. A “tower” that the kids can climb (enclosed metal type slide thingy). Just bring plenty of bug spray as I remember it being quite wooded and buggy 😀

I camped there when I first moved to Wisconsin about 9-10 years ago. It was nice then despite the terrible thunderstorm that rolled through and dropped a few tornados in Oakfield.
03/23/2009 at 5:03 am #1902429I’ve left a message with Lake Lenwood so hopefully they call back and they have an opening for that weekend. We will be staying there in our pop-up and my whole family will be along for at least part of the cache event. Looking forward to the trip. Who knows, maybe we’ll like the campground so much we might have to make it a recurring trip 🙂
03/24/2009 at 1:36 am #1902430Timber Trail Campground just off of Highway D in West Bend is where my family would camp (before geocaching came into our lives). They have an awesome swimming pool, a hot tub, a fishing pond where you will catch blue gills like mad, they have a playground for kids and a run-down tennis court. Tami
PS my older sister lives just across the street from Lake Lenwood on Wallace lake….look for the driveway with 7 cars parked in it and say “hi” from the ecorangers.03/25/2009 at 6:31 pm #1902431Thanks Tami for the heads up and recommendation on an alternative campgrounds. We ended up choosing Timber Trail.
04/17/2009 at 4:11 pm #1902432I see that this event has 116 “will attend” logs. Does anyone have the offical count of people…or how close it is to becoming a MEGA event?
Thanks

We are still hovering a little over 300 participants right now. We have a meeting with the Chamber on Tuesday, and I’m sure we’ll get an “official” update at that time. 😀
04/22/2009 at 8:41 am #1902434Okay, so here’s the “official” word:
After combining the Geocaching.com “Will Attends” and the registrations that are coming in through the West Bend Chamber site, we’re at 400 people so far.
