The 866 votes from 201 members that were cast in the 2009 WGA Board of Directors election, which ended on Sunday (February 8th), have been counted and certified. The following individuals have been elected to the Board:

    Ralph Edwards (zuma)
    Gwyn Calvetti (Trekkin’ and Birdin’)
    Seth Rubey (Team Honeybunnies)
    Renee A. Vanselow-Tapp (AuntieNae)
    Anne Elsenpeter (Cache_boppin_BunnyFuFu)

    Congratulations!

These individuals will be serving two year Board terms from now until February 2011. They join current Board members Becky Waldmann, Brian Geoffrey, Justin Korpal, and Jeremy Vechinski to form the 2009 WGA Board. Note that per our bylaws, WGA officers (President, Vice-President, etc.) are not directly elected and instead are Board members that are selected and confirmed by the Board itself. Selection of officers should occur before the end of February.

The WGA would like to thank all the candidates who decided to run for the Board this year. All of the candidates were well qualified to serve on the Board and all would have done a great job and been an asset to the organization if elected. They all invested significant time and effort into running by explaining their viewpoints, describing their background, and answering questions so that members could make an informed decision when it came time to vote.

Also, thanks to all the WGA members who spent time learning about the candidates, carefully considering the choices, and casting their votes. The involvement of members in this leadership selection process is crucial to the long-term success of the organization, so it was great to see the number of members participating in the election grow again this year.

Congratulations to the newly elected and I would also like to commend the membership for its participation in the BOD election process this year.
    >23% of the registered members voted ! Great job!
As was said many times, there were no poor choices and the WGA will be well represented.

I would also like to thank those who cast votes for me. I am greatful that I recieved the number I did as I was running against many of the big names in the state. I enjoyed meeting a few new faces out and about and hope to grow with the WGA. Thanks again and we will see what the next year holds.

Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.

Congratulations to the winners! I wish there had been 8 spots open instead of 5!

I would like to thank everyone who stepped up to run for a position this year. It is very tough to put your efforts into running and to come so close. Your efforts to support the WGA did not go unnoticed.

I too would like to congratulate the five worthy candidates that will be on our Board the next two years. In running I learned alot about the other 7 candidates as well as learning a bunch about myself 😯 (I also learned how to do numerous things on the computer that I didn’t already know 😳 – THANKS Jeremy!). So all in all it was a GR8 couple months and I’m sure it will be an even GR8’er two years! 😛

Congratulations… and to think we have all their autographs and photos already too.

Thanks to those who ran but did not win
And Thanks to those who were member and did not run

Congrats to all those that Ran, and those that were elected.

I am elated and incredibly humbled by the thought that so many people chose to vote for me. I hope that I am able to meet and exceed your expectations.

I want to extend a thank you to our candidates who weren’t elected. If the bottom five vote getters had been elected rather than the top five we still would have an incredibly strong B.O.D. I think our organization has an embarrassment of riches in the quality of its volunteers.

Nancy – You are the only one of the candidates that I have not been lucky enough to meet. You’ve definitely given to the community in your caches; we had a great day the other weekend chasing caches north of Milwaukee and it seemed like 2/3rds were yours. I also love all the little country plots you’ve placed caches in down in the SW part of the state.

Pete – It’s been great to meet you the couple times our paths have crossed, and you’ve been a stalwart of the LCG. Wild Rose is definitely a place on the map for a nice day of caching thanks to your efforts.

Dave – As happily surprised as I was that I was elected, I was equally shocked that you were not. You’ve been a solid half of our state approving team, the mastermind behind our Lonely Cache Game, and in our most contentious issues aired on the forums you have been both fair-minded and accurate in your observations.

Thank you again to all who voted. For all the time we spend criss-crossing the state it’s sometimes surprising how many of you we haven’t met. I’m hoping that will change as we make a greater effort to attend more of the events scattered around the state. And you’ll of course see us on the trails as well.

I am honored to have been given this opportunity to serve our geocaching community, and like Seth said, any of those running would do a great job as well. I hope that I can meet the expectations especially of those who voted for me, but for the entire Wisconsin caching community as well.

      Thanks to all of you.

Many thanks to all for the excellent turnout for the election. I want to thank all of the kind folks who took the time to vote for me, and I do appreciate it.

Like others have said, the 3 individuals that did not win this year have a lot to offer, and I hope you run again next year. Peter, Nancy and Dave, your talents and efforts are encouraged, and with your conintueng help the WGA can continue to grow. Thank you for running, and for all that you do.

I also want to thank the election monitors for making sure that the election was honest and fair. Thank you very much Jeremy, Bec and Brian.

Congrats to the winners, and good luck in your roles. And thanks to all who voted in the election. The success of the WGA is dependent on your input.

Thank you to everyone who ran. Thank you to everyone who voted. Thank you to our board members who are “retiring”.

Congratulations to the new board members.

I want to extend my congratulations to the new and returning WGA Board Members. It was a very hard choice this year with all the GOOD canidates. Thanks to all that ran for your time and thoughts shared with the rest of the Membership.

As I look over my shoulder at the WGA Wisconsin plaque on my wall, I remember the great time I enjoyed on the Board. The WGA has a great Board and an involved Membership that keeps our group one of the best in the country. Lets keep those new ideas coming!

Congrats to all the new and returning board members!
