I went and made reservations to swipe up one of the last available electric sites, after asking in my first post. Even after browsing the last campout info, I realize that most of the campers for the campout will be in the “group campground”.
So, I’ll be there. Just a short hike/bike away. 😀
Is there already a “group campground” area reserved? Do we need to make our reservations already? If so, what do we ask for to make sure we get something inside the “groups” area? thanks.
12/13/2010 at 12:38 pm #1937322There will be registration on our website for reserving a spot in the group camp site which the WGA reserves. Typically the group site is for tent campers only.
If you want to camp with a camper or separate from the group site than you can reserve your own camp site separately on the dnr website.
It works this way for every WGA campout.
Watch for more as the event details are worked out by the event committee and BOD.

This detail has not been decided yet. A new rule with the DNR requires that we wait until the new year prior to reserving a group site for 2011 dates.

“WE” meaning the WGA, or anyone wanting to reserve a group site? Just curious, as 1 of the group sites appears to already be reserved according to the ReserveAmerica map for those dates.(not that it matters, or am trying to push you to reserve, either. There is more than enough space up there. Just a clarification standpoint.)
And yes, by perusing the old campout info I got the impression that it’s more of a “tent city” camping event in the group camp area. I reserved my own site already because I’ll be bringing a camper.

I may have misspoke based on a misunderstanding. This may have been the rule for reserving the pavilion (not the group campsite).
But you got the point of my post anyway…
12/14/2010 at 3:19 am #1937326I just checked the park website and group sites are available 11 months ahead of time. Each of the sites are already reserved for several dates throughout the year.

Then they fall under the same reserve rules as all the other campsites.

Yeah, for the most part.
I’ve never seen the group camp full anytime I’ve camped there, which is at least once a season.
01/06/2011 at 2:27 pm #1937329I actually think that I have this weekend open. I may actually be able to attend a WGA event 😀
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

Nice one, Cheeto. Right on the lake.
We’re on #93.
