omg I better keep the kid in line 😆
BTW its been some time since I’ve been there…Is there a place to use my canoe?
One lake is only a few hundred yards from your campsite. Campers leave their canoes at the lake locked up. The other lake is about a mile away. I like the closer lake for canoing, it has a more scenic shoreline.

ooh, if you are worried about not having enough water to paddle in, check out the park overview map http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/hartman/map.html

02/25/2011 at 3:44 pm #1937352Oh, yeah… Bring the canoe. Allen Lake by the campground is excellent if you like to go for big bass. We have luck there every July, not quite sure of the May fish size or action. (BTW, Mr. S is looking for a paddling/fishing partner for the times when I’m busy with this geocaching thing…)
The whole Chain O’ Lakes in that area offers all sorts of watercraft action. We like to put in our canoe at the landing near our cache GC29G20 and explore the Upper Chain from there. Beautiful lakes.
Thanks for the map, Labrat.

We found that cache last camping trip to HC and those were my exact thoughts. We probably won’t bring our canoe this time, but I will bring fishing gear. Have always had good luck fishing in the park’s lakes. Maybe a geo-fishing tournament could be part of the activities this year. This is a great place for shoreline fishing for kids.

If you really want to do this is I will organize it. it could be open to fishing on Hartman and Allen Lake. Say with a kids and an adult class based on the Wisconsin age requirement for needing a license. Time possibly 1-3 Saturday afternoon. This would be very easy to setup and I would only need a couple of helpers. Maybe someone who likes bass fishing and wants to make his “mark” at the event.

04/30/2011 at 3:43 pm #1937363Weather permitting, we’ll be there for camping. Weather not permitting, we still might come up for the day on Saturday.
