As far as I can tell, there are no state parks in Sawyer County, so it is not possible to make our annual picnic “local” to you. It is however north of 64.

We have also had 5 parks that have hosted MULTIPLE WGA events, either the Campout or the Picnic. Hartman Creek has hosted 3!

I agree that Copper Falls would be a great place for a future event, and it has been considered.

Pattison and Amnicon were also considered, especially Pattison because it has Wisconsin’s highest falls and has one of the best shelters in the state. But Pattison is nearly to Superior, and therefore it would end up, in my judgement as a mistake to have an event there, since very few Wisconsin geocachers could afford to drive that far for a one day event. Personally, I will end up making a half dozen trips to Brunet to set up the picnic there, and at 2 hours RT, I can afford to donate that time. I cannot afford to donate the 6 hours RT it would take to go to Pattison, and I don’t see anyone else chomping at the bit to do that either. So, for now, Pattison is a no go unless you know someone who wants to do the work of setting up the event.

As far as Yellowstone Lake and Kegnosa goes, does either have a shelter? Both are in general proximity to Governor Dodge, and right now the tenatative plan is to return to Governor Dodge next spring, to celebrate our 10th anniversary by returning to where the first WGA was held.

Also, the center of the state geographically, is in fact Pittsville. Both Hartman and Brunet are north of Pittsville so it is an error to say that we do not have events in the northern half of the state.

I also checked the math from Madison to Cornell and then Madison to Mellen, and it’s only 40 more minutes to get to Copper Falls… it helps traveling straight north.

The park has 128 family campsites, five group sites, nine picnic areas, a reserveable shelter building, a swimming beach, two boat landings, and a canoe launch.

Picnic areas

But I bet if there was a couple of FTF’s ya could right? And who know’s, maybe if ya asked us HICKS from dA Nort, maybe we could get enough bodies and to pull it off. So you pretty much summed it up, if it’s not in the central or souther part of the state, an event not gonna take place, because the WGA is for those areas. cuz that where all the important people live. OK thanks for finally admitting that. Conversation done.
And BTW, EVEN if the event was held in my back 40, I would be able to attend, becuse I have 4 different weddings to deliver flowers to that day.
