Don’t forget to add this design that I submitted by email earlier this evening:

For purposes of facilitating discussion, I am going to number and name each submission. This one is:
8. Wedges.

Wow, that is amazing sandlanders! Now I’m embarrassed about what you are about to see, but here goes anyway! I was just about to climb in to bed (gotta get up at 0500 tomorrow, ack), when out of town Schnapps sent me a text with his idea. Gotta hit the hay ASAP, so whipped out a quick crayon drawing – please forgive the crudeness of the sketch! 8) Nighty night.

9. Cheese.
04/18/2012 at 1:58 pm #1958129Thank you all for the great work on developing ideas for our next geocoin. We have a lot of really good ideas to choose from, which means that our next geocoin should be great.
The geocoin committee is now working on the selection process, and I will keep you all informed as progress is made.

04/18/2012 at 2:19 pm #1958130Fun ideas and great work everyone! It’s in the hands of the committee, but I’ll offer my opinion anyway.
#9: You want to sell pins, offer something unique that says Wisconsin and what do people think of when they hear Wisconsin? Great cheese! A standard round pin people notice. A pin in the shape of a cheese slice, people look at. The shape sells it! Clean up and refine the graphics, and you have a pin that sells.
My opinion to ignore or think about, your choice, but 30+ years as an art teacher says it sells.

I agree!!!! It is wonderful to have so many good choices to choose from.
The committee’s goal is to have the samples ready to look at by the members at the campout at Dodge State Park, and have them available to sell at the West Bend Cash Bash.

04/18/2012 at 11:17 pm #1958133I would like to see an online sale for the 2012 geocoin with an added charge for mailing. Many people missed out on the chance to get the 2011 geocoins they wanted because they weren’t able to attend a WGA event.
I am offering my services to help with any packaging and mailing that needs to be done. I would imagine that a labeling program already exists to print out mailing labels with the names and addresses of the WGA members who order coins.
Please keep this in mind. Not everyone can attend WGA events, much less an early one where they can be guaranteed getting the number of coins they want.
04/18/2012 at 11:19 pm #1958134Since this IS the 1oth year, and we have some nice designs, there could be a higher demand than last year. How do we know if we don’t ask?
04/18/2012 at 11:34 pm #1958135How about a poll here on the forums and/or the Facebook site to gauge potential interest?
Following the signals from space.
04/19/2012 at 12:51 am #1958136There is no way to tie online poll results to actual numbers.

Agreed, can we save all the alternates for future use. There are quite a few in here that I would like to see realized. Of course I’m a coiner at heart! 8)

Thanks for the kind offer. We are considering an online sale this year, in addition to making the coins available at events. No final decision has been made as of yet, but having an offer to help with the process does tip the scales to seeing it thru.

An online sale is the best way to make the coins available to all WGA members and WGA friends around the state and elsewhere. Everyone should have an equal opportunity to purchase these, and if some can be sold at events also, that’s a convenience for those who forgot to buy any, those who didn’t realize there was a coin sale, and for those who may want to purchase more coins.
I encourage all members of the BOD to support an online coin presale.
04/19/2012 at 6:01 pm #1958141There will most likely be an online SALE, but not necessarily a PREsale.
