You mentioned how to tell the difference between “?” catagory. Read the cache page.

AMEN!!!  Lonely cache or not… READ THE CACHE PAGE!  It will make for a better caching experience for anyone.

TNW: “It doesn’t matter how you do it you just have to sign the log”. I would suggest you rethink this comment or you will not be endearing yourself to a great number of people.

I second that with another big AMEN!  The WGA does not need to be promoting what is considered by many to be poor caching etiquette.  😕 🙄

Multi-caches get extra points for having extra stages…

Not for a find, only for a re-visit of one you had already found, and only if ALL waypoints are checked and confirmed.  Other rules in place for all cache re-visits also need to be followed.

Here are 25 caches that have been out there the longest without ink touching their log. If there was a most wanted list? How long should the list be?

I don’t think AFDRE is still there, but that is just my gut talking. Not so sure about Jesse’s Swimming Hole. It was too far for me to get to but tempting enough I kept looking at it…

I think these are the main possible suggestions so far.

    * Dividing the state into “zones” similar to the Cache of the Month
    zones.

    * Increasing the number of caches from appx. 500 to ??.

    * “Badges” for winners’ profiles similar to the WGASPS badges.

    * “Most Wanted” list. Extra points for finding (or DNFing).

    * Bonus points for distance from home cords.

    * Banner or graphic on the LCG webpage telling members about the
annual LCG Event and that there are prizes.

    * Post top 3 earners to Facebook and pats on the back and milestone
    forum

    * Ask LCG participants to mention the WGA LCG in logs when hunting.

    * Keeping events in Lonely Cache saturated areas.

Anything else for the list …

A total row at the top or  bottom of the Lonely Cache Game Scoreboard.

The following Graph shows the number of cachers that participated in the LCG since 2008 and the total number of finds the top earner made.

    LCG Info

The next one is just a more detailed graph showing the number of cachers.

We’re going to need a whole BOD just for the LCG!

The bottom graph is most important to track players to see if this is still successful.

Number of finds won’t necessarily tell the full picture for a number of reasons as the object of the game is to get out to the little visited caches to make sure they are in good condition. The points are the carrot -on -the -stick to make that happen.

I agree but it does give a good idea of how many caches are getting changed out and new cache getting added to the list. The goal is still to accumulate the most points by cleaning off the oldest caches.  If a 1,000 caches get done in a year then is shows as a group we cleaned off the list twice (Not Literally all of them). I think as a goal of checking out old caches and showing them some love this would be an added congratulations to all the participating members as a whole. At the event someone could stand up and say. As a whole all of the participants in the membership cleaned up 1,000 lonely caches, let’s keep that number growing, and then there will be an applause to everyone. Maybe it would have an adverse effect. I don’t know. Positive is how I imagine it.

I would like to see what Team DeeJay has to say about some of these proposals, since he is the one who has kept an eye on things all of these years, and he might have the best idea of how some things could be implemented with his maps and programming.  As a reviewer, he might also have some insight into which hides haven’t been found because they are just out-of-the-way or difficult, or if they aren’t there but no one has checked on them recently.

While we want to encourage WGA cachers to participate in the Lonely Cache Game, and doing a bit of PR will let everyone know about the opportunities, we can’t force people to play, and most cachers just like to go caching.  Believe it or not, not every cacher is competitive!

Can we please stay on topic? You are more than welcome to start a new thread. Thank you.

I like the idea of extra points for the caches being so many miles from home.  Personally I like that better than the quadrant thing as people could live in all corners of the quadrants.
