The Highground near Neillsville, WI is a 155-acre manned veteran’s memorial park that pays tribute to the dead, and honors the survivors, their service, and their sacrifices. The Highground has been totally built (and continues to add new features) with donations and is staffed and maintained year-round by volunteers. The Highground fulfills its mission of healing and education by bringing past lessons into our hopes for the future. We seek to have The Highground continue to be a focus of healing for all who come, regardless of the name of the battle which left the scars. The park includes tributes to veterans of WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf (Desert Storm to present), as well as, a National Native American Vietnam Memorial, a Military Working Dog Tribute, a Meditation Garden, a handicap accessible Treehouse, an exact replica of the Liberty Bell, Effigy Mound, a Learning Center and 4 miles of hiking trails. The Park continues to grow as history unfolds. Located three miles west of Neillsville on US Hwy 10, the park is lighted and open to visitors year round 24 hours a day. “More than for all veterans, more than for those who did not come back, The Highground is a place for all of us.”
June 30th Saturday is Freedom Celebration Day 10-6:30pm, with fireworks and music at 7pm. Open free to the public. There are many hotel/motel and campground options in the area if you want to attend.
Also on June 30th will be Raslas’s Meet me at the Lake 9 Turkey Event at nearby Lake Arbutus. Come and have a weekend of fun at the lake and at this wonderful veteran’s memorial.

05/23/2018 at 5:54 pm #2059656A little over a month to go until July 1st and we have 10 people signed up so far for the Highground CITO. It’d be great to get a few more for this worthy cause. Hope to see you there.
06/27/2018 at 12:45 pm #2059965The Highground CITO is just a few days away and we could really use some more support. Please give some thought to providing a little Geo-Support to this worthy cause.
