The 2019 Fall picnic at Rib Lake is less than 3 months away.  I heard a while back it’s at Rib Lake, but cannot find any post confirming that.  The search engine didn’t reveal any useful results.  I think it’s September 21st, but again cannot find any documentation.  I googled Rib Lake and didn’t even see a forest or large park there so maybe I have it wrong.  There is a park along the lake with one cache in it.

I’d like to reserve a campsite or hotel room before they’re all taken.  Could someone confirm dates and location, as well as exact coordinates of the event?

I’m sure a cache page will eventually be created with a GC code to look up the info, but I was hoping to make reservations now.

Yes, the 2019 WGA Fall Picnic will be held at Lake View Park in Rib Lake. Currently there is only the one cache in the park,

Camping information can be found at https://www.riblakewisconsin.com/accommodations/

The campground has 27 sites, all with electricity, but they are first-come-first-serve.

Thanks Jim!  I see that although Lakeview Park is relatively small, the Chequamegon-Nicolet Forest and the Mondeax Hardwoods State Natural Area are only 9 miles away, not to mention a segment the Ice Age Trail.  Plus there’s the picnic itself!

I was surprised to see that we actually already found at cache at Rib Lake.  We got it when passing through a few years ago.  Word.

As of July 8, 2019 the one cache in the park was archived but there are lots of others not to far away

    How convenient . . .

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

The cache page should be published soon. If you are willing to volunteer for the event like cache hiding or at one of the activities please let one of the BOD know. Thank you

Just a feeler here. Instead of bringing your own meat to cook how would you feel if the WGA held like a dog and brat sale. It would be like a brat chips and a drink for x amount of money?

So far it’s being very well received on social media.

Am a little concerned about committing to attend. The campground doesn’t take reservations…so what do I do if I can’t get a site? Are there other campgrounds in the area???

Here’s a link from yelp about other campgrounds in the area.
