I am creating this forum for specific topics the membership would like the BOD to discuss at our Annual  BOD meeting.

Ideas for the WGA’s 20th Anniversary in 2022?

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

A few ideas for the 2022 anniversary:

*Sale of a 20 year anniversary coin or pathtag (could feature the “then” logo and the “now” logo”).  A coin in the shape of Wisconsin would be really neat (not sure on the cost).

*Picture slideshow from 2002 to the present, featuring BOD members, reviewers, events and charter members.   Honor those who have passed.

*Picnic in the center of the state so more cachers from all over could attend.  Hopefully the pandemic will be over!  Some WGA merchandise from the early days would be fun to raffle off (if there is any merchandise left over from years ago).

One suggestion for a 2022 anniversary celebration is a WGA mega type -event held if the Covid threat is over, scheduled at a time when it doesn’t infringe on traditional annual events sponsored by WGA or other groups or individuals (e.g. winter solstice, road rally, West Bend Cache Bash, etc,).

If the Board agrees to study the possibility of a mega-event at the next meeting, members could then be surveyed regarding their interest, feasibility, possible dates etc. before the April meeting in which the Board would then formally decide to go ahead with it or drop the idea.

If the Board agrees to go ahead, that timeline would give the WGA enough lead time for organizing and planning, etc.

We also think the Fox Valley would be a great venue for such an event for many many reasons including a plethora of parks and trails, affordable hotels, camping, eating places, drivability, and the more than a thousand caches already hidden here.

We know this might be seen as a crazy impossible idea so we are not offended if it doesn’t fly.

    Thanks,

    katste

I do like both ideas, a then and now coin. heads and tales.

and 2nd, a mega event in WI for 2022.  but understanding we are probably a little late in planning that already.  My recommendations on locations would then be: Madison because its our state capital and plenty of venues should be available, and the 2nd would be Marshfield, because it is fairly centered to the state.

Being a past BOD though I know a lot of this planning would need to involve much more than the BOD.
