Yeah, you’re right Barry, I don’t know him from Adam nor have I even done any of his caches so I really shouldn’t be drawing any conclusions. Disregard!

No one here is bashing him. There was a statement made by someone who had first hand dealings with him and found logging his caches difficult. I agree that the situation outlined by that person defies what I’d consider to be good sportsmanship. The purpose of this thread is to first point out that he got screwed and second to warn folks to fly straight with their own listings lest they incur the frogs wrath themselves.
..but still, I may have misspoke a bit as well. This is not about him but rather the treatment of him and EarthCachers over at GC.
12/09/2010 at 1:40 am #1939739To clarify….that was not CavScout’s EC that was problematic for us…the line was “not the same CO as the one who was banned.” We have done a couple of CavScout’s ECs and had no problems with those. I was sharing a first hand example of how *some* CO’s can be overzealous in these matters.
Reading the posts Ralph shared sheds some light on some of the story. CavScout sounds like he has a grip on the fact that there really is more to life than geocaching, a perspective his efforts in Iraq no doubt help to crystallize. When you’re worrying about the possibility of encountering a roadside bomb, whether or not someone posts photos is kind of a small thing, right? Probably neither “side” really knows what’s up. It’s a shame that all that hard work just got tossed into cyberspace, though.
12/09/2010 at 2:06 am #1939740I just got off the phone with CavScout, and am in the process of getting him a GSAK file of all of his caches with the pictures downloaded from the GC site, he is going to get them all loaded up on Opencaching.com the new Garmin site.
It was kind of funny that he called me tonight, with all that is going on, and even funnier he is actually in Wisconsin down at Fort McCoy teaching a class and is heading back to Quatar on the 18th.
So start watching for the new caches on Opencaching.
12/09/2010 at 2:11 am #1939741Tell him to come look for Trash Talk This Cache in West Salem tomorrow night if he has time. He can even meet Poohs Pal! LOL
Glad to hear there’s a way to help keep all that work alive.
12/09/2010 at 2:26 am #1939742That is good news. I believe there is talks with Opencaching about some type of virtual….
12/09/2010 at 2:26 am #1939743I know he is without a vehicle, he was out with some friends and getting a ride back to the base when he called. I forgot to add that he just got a email from groundspeak and has been permanently banned now

WOW…he really ticked someone off!
12/09/2010 at 3:29 am #1939745That is too bad. I like his EC and the man, but I wish he would had given me a little time to get it right. This was at a time when I was uploading big file. Now I upload Smaller ones and it is alot faster. It is too bad that GS banned him after all of the hard work he did on the EC. Like I said before. I never said anything to GS about him. I know I should have done the pictures, but I just ran out of time and forgot.

Opencaching.US does list virtuals now. Garmin does not.
12/09/2010 at 5:00 am #1939747We completed one of his EC this summer when we were on vacation. Thought the name sounded familar.
12/09/2010 at 12:50 pm #1939748And I thought that this was going to be a fun hobby 😥 😥 😥
