I know there have been several other topics, which have made info scattered. So, here is your clarifying and tidying-up posting.
The Chippewa Valley spring geocaching event will kick off in 6 days (4/14) at midnight. The offical webpage will go active then. The webpage is geocachingwisconsin.com and has information about kickoff activities as well.
The format will be the same as last year; you can register online and get your passbook and the coordinate file like last year; or new this year, a GPX file that has descriptions, ratings, hints, and coords. Will be available in GPX, PDB and just basic coords in LOC. There will also be a “nearly paperless passbook” which will only be four pages to carry in the field and to validate your finds for the drawings. You can also register in person at the Convention and visitors Bureau. The doors will open at 8 am and a computer will be available to download via GSAK your files. You need your own cables though.
There will be 100 caches as I noted before, with 85 listed on geocaching.com. That also a ton of FTFs as well! You just have to beat Zuma! to it!!!
Prizes are a new Cx series Garmin package, camping gear and other caching related stuff, but also a couple passes to see Bon Jovi at Country Jam as well.
Questions? PM me or email me at [email protected]
See you on the trail!
04/15/2007 at 11:47 pm #1872786Event has kicked off with a success!!! CITO I heard was awesome (I got tied up and then had to go to the VBall at UWEC), the geocaching class had over 50 people between them!!! And tons of hunts already!!!
For those registered, and who do not check your email, you go back to post them by following this link:

Kent04/16/2007 at 1:55 am #1872787I got stuck in town and couldn’t make the opening……I’m hoping to make it up there in a few weeks… 😕
But on the bright side now I will have some cacher trails to follow 😈04/18/2007 at 2:05 pm #1872788Thanks to the 120+ people who have already registered!!!! Opening weekend was a great success with lots of folk out caching! There were a couple bugs that arose, coords off between books and files, a couple caches muggled, but it was shakedown.
So, the Event URL is updated. Coordinate files have been updated, passbook and nearly paperless passbook is updated. Announcement page will be cleaned up.
Thanks for the interest and to steal a phrase from zuma, keep on cachin’!
