There has been a lot of discussion for a long time, but no action on changing our logo. Do you believe that we should run a contest for the development of a potential new logo?

Quite simply, and as has been my opinion since being on the board, if the membership wants to see the logo changed, we should go ahead and do it!

We’ve had some great submissions for our campout shirts, as well as geocoins. I think asking the membership for ideas for a logo would be great (and then voting on what we all like the best).

This is a frustrating issue for me…I have wanted to see it at least freshened up for some time and though the topic has come out many times in the forums there seems to have been no action taken. Now I say “seems to have been no action taken,” not to derail the question but it is hard to actually see what goes behind the closed doors of the WGA when there are no published minutes….perhaps this was voted down?

By all means update the logo. Put out an official referendum and settle this. Do we need a contest? I’m not sure that would be needed. I think getting your design chosen would be reward enough….

The simple answer is YES! I don’t really understand why this has not already happened.

I agree with Freshening up the Logo, and Chaniging it for the times. It does get the point across, but could be “Enhanced”.

I would go along with any efforts to change the logo.

When I proposed the logo eons ago, I figured eventually someone would come up with something better and I am kind of surprised it has lasted this long. Though I don’t quite get the arguments about the current logo looking dated or childish… I intentionally tried to make it as generic as possible, thinking that GPS devices and ammo cans would always be a part of the sport.

I would rather see an enhancement or “freshening” of what we have now rather than a completely new design. If a radical change is made, we need to think about purging the old logo from many places… replacing 100s of laminated name tags, buying a new banner and fixing other signs we use at events, making sure no old versions exist on the website, etc. So there is a cost to making a logo change.

I don’t see the need to change the logo.

I don’t think there would be any tangible benefits to updating it, yet there would still be a financial cost and a significant amount of labor to make the change.

I am somewhat partial to the current logo since it was the first and so far only logo for the WGA. I do however, feel it makes things look dated. I could see it either getting an update or a total facelift to reflect change in the organization.

I’m not sure how it works, but do not forget the items for sale at the store. New logo means new screens and there is a cost for that too.
