Any one have contact with a geocacher with a name similar to “96th St. Slueths” or “96th St. Sleuths”? I’m not having any luck with finding them on GC.com … so maybe they just sign log books, but are not registered on the website.
One of my caches turns out to have had a letterbox nearby. I have archived the cache. But the above mentioned geocacher found the letterbox by mistake and trade the poor owner’s letterbox stamp for some baseball cards. I’d love to help the guy out and see if I can get his stamper back. Am willing to pay postage to make it happen.
The letterbox is in Port Washington, WI (53074) … if any one happens to stumble upon the letterbox stamper in another cache in the area, let me know.
This is a description of it:
The pink stamp has an image of a series of interlocking triangles.
I don’t get down that way too often, but that really is a shame when something like that happens. Worst case scenario, how much does a new stamper cost to make? I’m sure a few people would chip in if it came to that.
I don’t think it’s that big of an issue … just trying to be nice and see if I can help the guy out.
While I still feel bad it happened … upon examining the logbook in the cache that I pulled out, it appears this person found BOTH (the cache and the letterbox) and they wrote on the log that they found the letterbox too. So this would appear to not be an issue of not knowing what they found, but more about not understanding how a letterbox works.
