Just dropping a note to spread the word about this year’s Fox Valley CITO event. We’re pulling in a number of outdoor enthusiast and environmental preservation organizations to assist in our parks and Fox River shoreline clean-up effort. As we’re hitting the water this year with power boats and canoes, (kayaks are a little tricky to work with but also welcome) we are in need of brave geocachers to don their swamp gear (waders or hip-boots) and partner with these other watercraft captains to walk in tandem along the shoreline. If that’s not your gig, you can certainly bring your own watercraft and pair your crew with fellow cachers. Or, there are plenty of city parks and trails for the landlubber types. This promises to be one large gathering with a great mash-up of like-minded individauls, so if you’ve nothing planned for the 18th of April, please consider attending. If that doesn’t work, maybe attend the Highway 10 CITO or consider joining the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance clean-up of Lake Winnebago on the 25th.
Just a quick bump to remind Wisconsin geocachers of next Saturday’s CITO event along the Fox River in Appleton. Watercraft caching, free brats and hot dogs, mingling with outdoor enthusiast groups, a hidden geocoin kayak race, and of course cleaning up ALL of our parks and the Fox River waterfront… what excuse have you got not to attend?
