Throw out some ideas post-Memorial Day. During the summer months, we have our weekdays off, but I know that’s not the case for everyone. I know for certain the last weekend of July/first weekend of August are out. That’s when I’ll be in Newfoundland (where I’m told there’s some awesome sea kayaking to be had….and this by the conference director who hired me, LOL0.

05/03/2010 at 1:05 am #1928069Looks like this trip won’t happen. The cache was just archived. 🙁 I wonder if the owner is just getting out of caching? He archived the virtuals, too.
Too bad.
05/03/2010 at 2:53 am #1928070Just possibly your group could volunteer to remove the cache container for the owner??? The worst case would be a “No” from the owner.
05/03/2010 at 11:14 am #1928071It’s worth asking. The archive log said the ‘tooth has been pulled,” but maybe he doesn’t mean literally yet. Thanks for the idea!
05/03/2010 at 2:24 pm #1928072Okay, the search is still on! The owner would be thrilled to have us rescue the container. So, throw out some ideas for dates and rain dates that can work for people.
Also, a cable cutter will be needed to pull the cache, so anyone coming who has one of those….bring it! Sounds like it should definitely be in place!
05/07/2010 at 3:26 pm #1928073I believe that the weekend of July 22-25 is out for me. At least whichever weekend Germanfest is.
05/10/2010 at 3:08 am #1928074The cache appears to be archived. Check out my log 0f 7/29/06 for some pretty good put-in/take-out coordinates. Have fun!
Cachew05/10/2010 at 12:01 pm #1928075Thanks for your note, John. I’m sure it will be helpful. I know I have seen logs on archived caches, so if we can rescue it….we can log it. I guess. If it weren’t a cache requiring a lot of effort, I’d say “feh”, pull it and keep on going, but this one I’d claim.
05/17/2010 at 2:16 am #1928076What about the Monday of Memorial Day weekend? If we get an early enough start, the traffic home should be avoided. I wouldn’t think traffic on these back roads would be too bad, anyway.
05/17/2010 at 9:38 pm #1928077If I had a canoe…I’d love to try to make it. I’ll be up in your neck of the woods that prior Saturday. Making a (slight) detour wouldn’t be unreasonable.
05/17/2010 at 10:27 pm #1928078I plan on being there, I have a solo canoe.
05/18/2010 at 12:39 am #1928079Great, We have a double canoe. Glad to see some can manage the holiday weekend….with the CO willing to let us retrieve this, I didn’t want to make him wait too terribly long.
I’ll gather more information on the time needed, put in and all that from Cachew’s log and we can work out the details. Looking forward to this a lot!
There is also one not far from here, Devil’s Tea Table, that I missed a couple years ago. An awesome spot to visit even with a DNF. Looks like there are a a couple in Cadiz Springs and the random cache here and there. Glad this will work out, let’s hope the weather does, too.
05/18/2010 at 3:27 am #1928080As much as I’d like to go along and was hoping to I have to pass this up as the kids youth group is marching that day in a Memorial Day parade. I’m game for any other of this type once I get used to a kayak.
05/19/2010 at 6:20 pm #1928081Have canoe, will cache!! Hotdogs Off Trail, including Jag, plan to be there.
We will be camping at Yellowstone Lake State Park for the weekend. PM me with times and location where you want to meet. Looking forward to the hunt. -
