I surely would not want to be placed in this poor guy’s situation. Though our caches are generally “in the woods,” the basic plea he makes to really think about letting people in more urban locations know just what you’re doing is worth considering, both as a searcher and a placer. I’m not usually a fan of caches in high density areas that require “stealth,” but I know many enjoy those, and we’ve done plenty of them ourselves if they’re in our path.
Food for thought on this chilly morning.
01/27/2010 at 6:08 pm #1921076This is why I try to involve those I find at GZ in my geocaching hunts. This is especially true of kids aged 8 to around 16. If you act sneaky and don’t share the experience with them, they will know that something is going on (why are you there in their neighborhood park?) and investigate after you leave. Much better to get them involved.
Here is a typical example:

Why do you think we take our grandkids with us? I’ve never been bitten when sticking my hand in a hole and I’ve never fallen out of a tree yet.
01/27/2010 at 10:03 pm #1921079Our grandson has gone caching with us, but he’s not of much use at this point, other than maybe a “cute” distraction for onlookers!
We like climbing the trees and usually have to flip a coin to see who gets to go up! Like I said, not a kid in years, but at heart!
