      Hi everyone –

Wondering what your favorite types of caches are and what you enjoy or would enjoy most about about serving on the board of directors.

      Thanks

Please note: my comments are mine alone and may not necessarily reflect an official stance of the WGA Board of Directors.

Hi everyone – Wondering what your favorite types of caches are

My very favorite caches are walks in the woods that involve a scenic view or natural feature.  I always love it when something unexpected is thrown in there as well like an interesting container or field puzzle.  But I find many different geocaches enjoyable and can appreciate many different types.  The creativity of many cache hiders continues to amaze me and I love how people all bring their own flavour to the game.

and what you enjoy or would enjoy most about about serving on the board of directors. Thanks

I especially like all of the people that I have met throughout the state of Wisconsin.  Generally, people are just so friendly and enthusiastic about their love of the game.  Since we all have a shared interest it’s easy to find things to talk about.  My first WGA picnic I forgot my paper products for lunch and wasn’t sure how we were going to eat.  A couple I’d never met before offered us plates and silverware, another offered some other things, and we were set.  We ended up caching with new people and had a great time.  I also like being a part of the planning and watching people enjoy themselves at the activities that I helped be a part of.

I like mystery caches the most but my family likes the long walks type.

I would like most if I served would be getting out there to educate new comers and maybe teach old dogs new tricks.

My favorite type of caches have one or more of the following characteristics:

        • Bring me to a new location to see or discover something historical or neat.
        • Be a unique container or unique hide.
        • Typically are traditional, virtual or earthcaches.

What I have enjoyed most about serving on the BOD:

        • Traveling to all parts of the state attending events
        • “Branding” the WGA with the logo shirts and banners.
        • Seriously, it has been the people I have met along the way.

        Thanks chevyole.

My favorite types of caches are the unique, clever or interesting ones. Sometimes they turn out to be Traditionals or Multis but more often than not, they are puzzle/mystery caches.

I like anything that is different or unique.

I would like to continue to serve as a Director on the Board as it is fun. I enjoy helping to plan new event and activities for the people that come. Like when when I hide caches, I enjoy giving back and serving on the Board gives me a chance to meet so many new people from across the state.

The caches I like most are the ones I can find. I am not much of a puzzle guy but I do try and solve some. I like all caches they all have a place and relevance in the game. It just depends on what is happening and what is going on in life or time you have.

I think what I would like most about serving on the board is helping the sport grow and to try and make it fun for all. I try not to be confrontational with topics but try to bring the voice of the smaller group or the voice of new people to the table. So everything can be heard all points of each topic or concern.

Physical caches are fun but events lead you to more caches, how to hide or make better ones and banter with fellow geocachers. If a cache starts talking to you it is best to stop turn around, maybe call for help but get home as quickly as possible. You have been out there way to long.

A lot of work goes into events. It is nice to see them held near neat locations or see how many caches the event hosts hid just so the attendees get to find some. Maybe have some sort of a caching competition. Socialize to find out where some cool caches are or enjoy some Trash Can Turkeys like at the raslas event Meet Me at the Lake GC511B3 . I have been to a lot of events but they are the only ones that made 3 turkeys.

During the WGA Spring Campout GC43KW0 at Interstate park a group of us trying to find the Eagle Rock cache. It was raining so apparently as I was sliding down the big slippery rocks my hand decided the gps should be used against the rocks. The screen was cracked and broke but hey I found the cache and I traded it in for a new Oregon 600. As I was writing this I almost forgot about the night caching. After we were done and the WGA Members were disbanding to their camps we heard the most horrible noise coming from the woods. A couple of us had to find out what it was. I drove up around to the top side of the hill and you could hear this thing either eating and mutilating something or itself was getting chomped on. I looked up and seen some high nests. You have to remember as all this is going on we are yelling back in forth walking down a hillside in the dark and this thing is just screaming. So I kept moving down and knew it was not a raccoon. Then it came to me and yelled back it is a rookery. So I started back up the hill to see if I could see above the nest. As I was shining the light up on the nest, all of a sudden this branch turned turned its head and there in the light were the 2 beady green eyes of a Blue Heron staring down at me. Blue Herons have never been so freaky. Unless you are minnow or frog.

Getting to help bring these events, except for breaking a gps, to fellow geocachers is what it is all about. Helping to add more to them and make them run smoothly is a smiley for everybody.

Hi everyone – Wondering what your favorite types of caches are and what you enjoy or would enjoy most about about serving on the board of directors.

I like finding any type of cache but my favorite type of caches are traditional caches in scenic locations and I love creative containers.  Serving on the board of directors would be a great opportunity to meet lots of people, give back to the geocaching community and visit many places in our great state.
