This keeps coming up on my facebook, so I checked it out. Honestly, this looks like a blast.

The obstacles look like “all in a cacher’s day” kind of things. Even with my injuries that put me on the sidelines from my so-called running career, I think I could manage 5k, especially if it’s broken up by these obstacles. Maybe Trekkin’ and I could celebrate our birthdays, which bookend the Wisconsin date, by doing this???? He’d have to get past the entry fee, though!
12/24/2010 at 6:03 pm #1940766so…you are saying he’s cheap?
12/24/2010 at 6:38 pm #1940767Mike, he prefers the term “frugal.” We haven’t done the race circuit in so many years, he doesn’t realize that’s a pretty typical entry fee nowadays for a big race.
I’d love to do it just to show we still have a little spunk left at our age. I might be going solo on this one, however.
Unless some others here are so inclined… Mud, dodging deadfalls, climbing, dark forests. Doesn’t sound too different from our favorite cache hunts, does it?
12/25/2010 at 1:54 am #1940768one of my friends in Texas has done at least two of them already… she loves it. I was seriously considering doing it if they came close. Now I’m set to go. oh, and tell Trekkin’ that it’s half the price of the marathons I do 😯
12/25/2010 at 2:15 am #1940769Brian, I can’t sell him on it. I keep telling him….”Remember when we were doing the running circuit, and we’d be so impressed by those ‘old fogies’ who’d get out ahead of us? Now *we* could be those old fogies!”
He claims old fogeyhood has made him wiser. I still want to do this. How about you, Brian? Once on the course, I would just have fun no matter who’s around (and would probably be placed in a slow wave, anyway), but it would be great to get a few people together to anticipate beforehand and commiserate afterward. This one’s even closer to you, too. Even with my banged up patellae, I could do this much and slog it having fun.

Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
12/25/2010 at 5:33 pm #1940771I’m planning on running this with my fitness group. Looks like fun to me.
12/25/2010 at 5:48 pm #1940772Dave, Are you? I’m sending in my entry. I had the goal of running a full marathon when I turned 40, but the injury prevented me from ever doing that. I provided support for Trekkin’ for several marathons, if he doesn’t want to do this, he can cache in the area and meet me all muddy at the end. I think it looks like a major blast myself, not sure why he doesn’t feel the same.
12/26/2010 at 6:40 pm #1940773They have showers at the end, so you don’t have to stay muddy unless you want to. One of the last obstacles is crossing a three foot deep pond, so that should help as well.
12/27/2010 at 1:16 am #1940774It looks like a blast. I have done a few of these with biking between stages instead of running. The muddy ending looks particularity appealing. Have fun!
12/27/2010 at 1:12 pm #1940775Looks like a blast to me too!
12/27/2010 at 2:32 pm #1940776This looks like a blast, I am considering doing this. Is there flag icon really off on its location in wisconsin? when I google that address it puts me over by kenosha.
12/28/2010 at 12:57 am #1940777i now plan on doing both… there is one in MN as well, and have friends in both locations that want to do it.
12/28/2010 at 1:31 am #1940778I’m “running” the Wisconsin one with my sister, the one in Minnesota you have to run up a Ski Hill, no thanks on that one. Post what wave you sign up for so we can cheer each other on! Or if you want someone to “race” with we can coordinate wave times. I don’t plan on going fast, just finishing.
