It looks like the inevitable is just hours away as Steve and Donna of drhaas will surpass the ecorangers as #1 in caches found by a Wisconsinite. Not to diminish Steve and Donna’s achievement, but I would like to pay tribute to the ecorangers for their accomplishments. Over 22k finds and 500 hides in less than 8 years. Most of their finds were at a time when there were far less hides available to hunt. Their pace has slowed some as the family obligations have increased as their two children became older, but most of their finds in the mid 2000’s were done as a family. We first met Tami a little over 4 years ago on the Bugline Trail and have since become good geocaching as well as personal friends with her and her family. Whether it’s about the numbers or not Tami, Wade, Dane and Tait will always be #1 with us.

06/15/2011 at 1:31 pm #1948881WOW – I think both accomplishments are amazing. This also shows the variety of what’s out there and how everyone can make the “sport” their own. The fact they give back is a huge “win” in my book because there are so many that like to find, but never feel the need to be on the placing side.
06/15/2011 at 2:29 pm #1948882I remember my first “run in” with Earth Angel and Professor. It was at the WGA 2007 Campout at Hartman Creek where we met up at I believe one of Seldom|Seen’s temp caches where S|S had placed a Crow decoy high up in a tree (“Dial M for Murder” Temp cache if memory serves).
Professor made the climb and tossed the stamper down to mark the books. Then we went our separate ways collecting more of the temp caches.
Even after just such a brief meeting, I considered Wade and Tami friends and I look forward to chatting again when our paths cross.
Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
06/15/2011 at 4:26 pm #1948883I’m happy to share some more pizza with them at any Event!
But I don’t want to see Tait fall in a spring hole in the middle of February!
Just 2 of the 22,000 plus memories they have made in this wacky hunting game!We salute you all! 😀
