I have been Maintaining “Lord of The Caches” for a few years now as the owner has gone west never to be heard from again. I have tried to contact him a few times, but have never recieved an answer in over a year. Groundspeak shows him as a Non active member.
What do I have to do to get this cache passed over to me, I have no way of getting the owner to allow me to adopt it, so the location page data can be maintained.
I talked to a Wi admin during the West Bend event, and he said that he didn’t think anything could be done… I hope this is not true.
Help from an admin would be appreciated.
In order for you to adopt a cache, the cache owner must start the ball rolling. If said owner is not available, basically all you can do is post a SBA note and get the process rolling for archival. Once the listing is archived then you can put a new cache in the exact same location (can use the same name even).
Here’s geocaching.com’s knowledgebase info on this:
Bec
There is a group here in wausau that is the same way, on one, I was the last finder, parts were everywhere, location was an obvious fort for local kids.
Owners had not been online in 2 years, I picked up the container and posted a SBA and eventually it went away via the reviewers. They have 5 others here in town that are the same way, some have 3-4 containers now as people have been playing the lonely game a bit too much or just wanting to claim the found and place a container where they thought it should be.
And you can always add a link on the cache description to the prior archived cache if you want cachers to be able to find the prior one for historical reasons.
Well I’d hate to let the original be archived, due to the historical relevence of the cache. So I guess it will remain as it is then… I’ll keep tending to it.
THANKS BE !!!!
