Just spoke with our NE Region contact for Adopt A Highway; and it seems she sent me the wrong list of open roadway sections.
Turns out that the NE Region doesn’t have updated/current site plans for some of the major four lane highways in the region so they have not been giving those out for adoption. Seems as though they may not bother either with increased traffic flow and the inherent dangers involved with most of these sections of highway.
She informed me of what is and is not available (over the phone) so I will be whittling down the list quite a ways and will get back to everyone ASAP.
The good news is that she said it will not take long for us to be able to go ahead and start cleaning up our roadway, once it is chosen.
We will be choosing a date in May soon for the WGA’s first Trash Pickup weekend. Watch these forums for details!

OK, Here they are again. The colors in front of the available sections are to distinguish the different counties each are in. Sorry, for the cruddy quality and huge size, I’ve given up trying to make this a user friendly list… 😳 Also, I had to physically cut and paste the parts together to make this handy list; then re-scan everything.
This is the full list of available segments for the more centrally located NE Region Counties.
Please feel free to make suggestions and we will vote quite quickly to get this thing rolling!
Thanks for you patience.
04/22/2007 at 5:14 pm #1873164OK here’s the deal.
I’ll take the first three suggestions from three different people.
We need to choose. If no one comes up with anything by Tuesday evening I will pick them myself. (Help keep Manitowoc County Clean! 😆 )
Fire away!
04/22/2007 at 9:51 pm #1873165Hi: Jeff
My vote would be for any of the Manitowoc County roads. Since I am from that county it would be a close commute for me. Just my two cents worth..
04/23/2007 at 2:00 am #1873166I think the highway 10 in manitowoc would be good!
04/23/2007 at 2:17 am #1873167I vote for hwy 10 in winnebago county. Nice short hike that even I may be able to finish, at least one side of it.
04/23/2007 at 2:21 am #1873168Highway 10 In Manitowoc works for me. I get out that way quite a bit..
Justin
04/23/2007 at 2:25 am #1873169I am not going to take my kids on a highway so I am going to stick to cleaning the parks.

Sorry, I missed that one… Apparently that one is on 441, a four lane road that they won’t give out. My Bad!
There are other shorter sections…
04/23/2007 at 2:03 pm #1873171Well then I guess it really doesnt matter. But I’ll also go with Jim’s statement, i will not be bringing my kids along to help clean up. However, I may make it to one.
04/23/2007 at 9:36 pm #1873172For safety, the DOT doesn’t allow anyone under eleven to help. (Though I can’t imagine wanting to bring any little person that young along…)
04/24/2007 at 4:21 am #1873173Ok, I’ll vote for 70-116-01 then, close to my house :>
04/24/2007 at 11:31 pm #1873174That’s Three!
Two Suggestions of Hwy 10 in Manitowoc, and one for Hwy 116…
I’ll get right back to you all tomorrow after I talk with our fine DOT folks and get us a highway!
Thanks!
