I am looking to get as many people toghether that we can, and will will have breakfast and then go out and do some caches in some of the Appleton Parks
I will send the link to the Geocaching page as soon as it is setup.

I suggest you name the event “Setting The Story Straight (In The Fox Valley)”.

The description of the notes you found in the cache location really makes me wonder if it’s our friendly Alderman Mr. Walter Kalata that might have been playing ‘mind games’ with you when you were searching for it.
Hopefully we’ll see a better article out of the news paper in the future 😉
The possibility that it was the dear alderman was my first thought.
And I wouldn’t count on that better article anytime soon. I just hope it doesn’t turn into “Geocaching cult invades Old Country Buffet” 😉
07/20/2006 at 2:55 am #1763675I’ll be there too, if I don’t have to work that is! 😀
07/20/2006 at 3:23 am #1763676I’d love to be there! It all depends on the day. My summer of bumming has ended… I was called back to work this week. 🙁
07/20/2006 at 6:19 am #1763677The Meet and Greet is now scheduled for 7-30-2006. I am going to write it up for 9:00am. I will be writing this up Thursday Evening. Thank you for all of your intrest and support. It has been very Eye-Opening and appreciated. What the plan so far is:
I am going to be contacting the park and Rec department Head William Lecker, and Inviting Him, along with The Appleton Post Crescent Editorial Staff, All of the Aldermen from Appleton, and The Local TV Stations.
The event will include Starting at aproximately 9:00am
Breakfast at Old Country Buffet
Basic Introduciton to Geocaching ( For the Uninformed )
Discussion of Interesting Caches, and Cache Hiding Spots
Discussion of CITO and the General “Accepted Rules” of Geocaching
Go out into the field and Grab a few Caches from within other Appleton Parks.I am planning on grabbing the Three Caches at Pierce Park, as Well as City Park.
If anyone has any other Caches that they would like to see included in this event, Please contact me and get it on the list. I was hoping to get at least one of each classification ( Micro, Small, Traditional, and Multi_. I am planning on no more than Five for the Group Cache, as I am sure the press, TV Crews, and the Alderpersons have other things to do as welll, but I am going after a extremely positive group of people doing a positive thing.
Please keep the suggestions coming, contact me at 920-471-8008 at anytime.

07/21/2006 at 6:19 am #1763679Just so you know that plants and flowers were taken in Kenosha and Racine downtown areas but no Geocachers were blamed. I just would assume that it is just cheap people.
07/22/2006 at 11:31 am #1763680Good Morning:
As of Saturday Morning we have another article in the Appleton Post Crescent. It is definetely better than the original. Have a Look, and let me know your opinions, except about my incredibly long run-on sentence!!!! Sorry about that.

07/23/2006 at 12:43 am #1763682Well done – the same article was also printed in today’s Green Bay Press-Gazette. Kudos!
07/23/2006 at 1:43 pm #1763683I’m just thrilled the article made it on the front page. I also noticed that the original reporter didn’t write it–Geocacher burn out? 😉
07/23/2006 at 1:53 pm #176368407/23/2006 at 4:28 pm #1763685Another thing to keep in mind — these reporters and maybe even the alderman may peruse these forums.
It’s okay to have an opinion, and perfectly understandable to be upset, just remember that this is a public forum
I’ll stop being a mom now — you don’t need one. Sometimes I tend to be too placating.
