I’m hoping to go to this one. Will you be there Lee? I doubt I’ll have an antenna by then, but it would be fun to tag along.

Sorry I did not look at my schedule close enought and I will be working in Green Bay Friday and Saturday. So I will NOT be at the Transmitter hunt.

I had fun at the Fox Hunt the other night. I think I did pretty good until the last 75 yards or do. I brought along a directional antenna I constructed out of a measuring tape.

I don’t have an attenuator yet, so I was shifting my receiver off frequency to cut down on the input signal. That process worked pretty good for one fox, but the other had too strong of a signal.

The first transmitter was a walkie talkie sitting on a stump in the woods. This was the easy one for the newbies like me.

The second transmitter was inside a hollow branch with a large antenna which was hidden inside a camoflaged sleeve. It was very hard to see, even when you were standing 2 feet away.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I received some good tips on tweaking my antenna to make it better. I also picked up some plans for an offset attenuator which I hope to build soon.

This was very similar to geocaching, except you use an antenna and radio instead of a GPS.

    Very fun!
