MemberI just need to vent … I have 10 caches at Harrington, 3 in ammo boxes, the rest in “lesser” containers. Some cacher did all 10 of my caches today, to discover that the 3 there were ammo boxes, the cache contents were dumped at the location (log book, trinkets, and TB) and the ammo boxes taken. While the other 7 caches were just fine. Grrrrr!
The nice thing … the cacher turned in all the “remains” of the caches to the Ranger … thank you!

MemberReally sorry to hear about this. I really enjoyed doing your caches at the park during (my second day of caching) – GC1VKH8 Geocaching Basics – Harrington Hike 2009

MemberThanks all!
I plan on putting them back into service … just plan on using “cheap” clear plastic boxes … since they left the other caches alone.
Got the boxes … just need to pick up the “innerards” from the Ranger and figure out what TBs belong in what caches.

MemberRon: I thought I read somewhere that the State Parks don’t want ammo boxes anymore and would prefer clear tupperware containers with a geocaching sticker on the outside? Maybe that’s why just your ammo boxes disappeared? Just a thought…glad you will be replacing them. Tami

MemberSo like you think Ranger Krueger stole them, instead of telling me to change them? Actually he likes the ammo boxes, he thinks plasticwear is too whimpy. But I’m going with plasticwear to remove the temptation.

Some Cacher here – AKA sipafz – Jack: We (Dazzo and I) were bummed to find that the boxes were pillaged. We picked everything up, dug around the snow to make sure we did not miss anything and turned the stuff into Ranger Andy (less T.B.s which we took & logged). I talked with Ranger Andy for a good half hour. He was very interested and wanted here all about our adventure in his park. It’s not possible that he took the boxes to avoid confrontation. He seemed very concerned and wanted to know the status of the rest of the hides. He was also grateful that we stopped in and said that he would contact you immediately so you could make your plans to fix and release.
Thanks again Enerysaver for taking the time to place and maintain these caches! We did have a great time in the park and will be back to finish the quarry bridge multi after the thaw!
Jack

MemberWe were sad to hear that someone did that to your caches. Got a couple of them last fall. We plan on camping in spring to get the rest of them.

Membersipafz …. I can’t thank you enough for rescuing the pieces … and yes, there is no doubt in my mind that the Ranger had no part of it … what many don’t understand is that Ranger Krueger himself hid some of those caches WITH ME … including the “final mystery” after the Where? and How? caches … Ranger Krueger actually did the “physical work” of creating the “spot” for that final (after all, only a DNR staffer can modify DNR property).
I’ve replaced all the missing containers (with el cheapo plastic once, but they’re nice and water tight).
I also found the Bridge one was truely missing … I retired it BUT just release at new one in that general area, in it’s place, which is already approved and running.
