The last box I bought at Sherper’s-Hales Corners (in December) was 3″ x 12″ x 10″ or so. It was in good shape (at least until Johnny Cache beat on it with a hammer). It cost all of $4. It is still in place, has been frozen solid in ice at least twice, taken to a muggle’s house and brought back, tossed about on rocks by Lake Michigan waves, and everything inside it is still bone dry. I did repaint it with sand colored camo paint, which apparently provides a good surface for moss growth (much better camo!).
04/06/2006 at 10:41 pm #1761312I’ve had good luck with Sherpers, maybe I was looking when their inventory was low. All of my ammobox cache cans had come from there.
Not to change the subject, but to bend it a bit, the Lock-N-Lock plastic containers seem real tough, with 4 latches, one on each side, and a gasket seal all around.

I was in the neighborhood of Sherpers tonight so I stopped in to check on it. They have lots of the second smallest size (about 5″ thick, 50 cal) and many larger sizes, but none of the smallest size. All were in ok shape.
04/07/2006 at 4:54 pm #1761314I have purchased them off eBay. You get a great deal on the cans – I got three for $9.99. However, the shipping can kill you – I believe I paid $11.99! That average a little over $7/can. (They were delivered to my doorstep!!)
04/08/2006 at 1:47 am #1761315Shipping is definitely a killer…As mentioned in the thread below, get perfect condition, .50 cal cans delivered to you at the WGA campout. Buy 3 or more, delivered, primed and stenciled and you’ll get them for $5 a piece. Website pictures are up now for viewing.
