A large ammo can primed and camo’d and filled to the brim with swag including a GPSr and a camera and no place to put it?

It’s been sitting in my truck for a few weeks.
I’m debating hiding it as a new cache, or upgrading one of my crummy Peanut Butter jar caches.02/07/2010 at 8:23 pm #1921653Put it in the back of our Suburban. Problem solved.
02/07/2010 at 8:28 pm #1921654That just gave me an idea. It could be a TRAVELING GEOCACHE!
“The Geocache that comes to you!” 🙂I could just attach a TB dog tag to the handle, and send it on it’s way. A TB with a log book and tradeable swag inside? Could it be a first?

Much like the toilet seat travel bug, its going to be near impossilble to find a cache big enough to put it in when its bigger than most regular caches. Nice idea though.
Who has the toilet seat travel bug? Last time I saw it, POC had it…

First of all, as one who enjoys wrapping peanut butter jars with camo duct tape, those are NOT crummy caches, so keep the PB hides–unless the containers are getting degraded or they are in locations where you would like to put out a larger container to invite more trackables and swag.
Secondly, as one who lives close enough to find your hides, even though we haven’t gone in search of any yet, I say put out a new hide.
Thirdly, that’s one nice looking cache container, and the insides sound just as nice, so I say find a special spot to hide this one, and make sure it’s a secure enough spot so that it doesn’t go “walking”.

Did I read this right? SWAG includes a GPSr and camera? That’s great SWAG, but how do you “truthfully” trade equal or better for these?

Correct. but don’t get too excited.
The camera is an old Polaroid Instamatic. While it works perfectly, it’s only a real treasure to anyone willing to pay the outrageous prices for instamatic polaroid film. That is if you can still find it.The GPSr is an older model. a Magellan GPS 310. It works perfectly, but it’s nearly obsolete, IMO inadequate for geocaching. It could serve someone as a backup unit, if their primary were to fail or become lost.
The Magellan GPS was my first GPS many years ago.
I’d be lucky to get $10 for it if I were to sell it.I think a hunter or a hiker could make use of it by using it to mark the location of their vehicle before heading out into the woods.
Thats about all it’s good for.If I were to have a garage sale, I’d stick $5 on either item, no more. It’s not like super high-dollar geoSWAG.
You know, like they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.
Speaking of High dollar geoSWAG, I’ve heard of a geocache down in Georgia somewhere, where the cache container is one of those enormous Rubbermaid containers.Inside is stuff like Microwaves ovens, DVD players, stereo components, VCR’s, Blenders and toasters. Thats a cache I’d like to visit.
03/07/2010 at 12:07 am #1921660As of an hour ago, this cache has been hidden. Just waiting for publication now. (GC24NMC)
If anyone knows someone who needs a GPSr, (one thats not quite adequate for geocaching needs), I know where you can find one (in a geocache)
The cache was originally (quite literally) filled to the brim, but I decided against that, hoping to leave room for larger travel bugs or whatever else people can think to leave inside it.
Have fun, folks.

I have the toliet seat. Meant to bring it with me to the last 3 events I attended, and forgot it each time, so it is still here with me. Hopefully, I will remember to take it to Bong.

Well make sure you have it unscrewed a day or two before the event and it shouldn’t be a problem…
03/07/2010 at 12:33 pm #1921663Never saw that toilet seat. Hope I never do.
Closest we’ve had to Helidood’s problem is putting together a fully stocked ammo can, with a handcarved letterbox stamp, and giving it away as a door prize. Keep looking to see it show up as a cache somewhere. That stamp was one of my better efforts!
