I totally agree with you about this topic, as I said in my first post. the real problem with this post(and all like it) is the fact that you feel it’s needed to point out EVERYTHING that isn’t the way you like it, in a rude fashion. does it really matter where people put there thread?

guess it just seems that when it comes to the way the message board is used, I would just leave it up to the admin’s to decided to point people in the right direction, or as I said before a nice, kind post on the topics in question would be quite alright.
on the geocaching.com forum topics get moved by the admin all the time so they are where they belong. is this not possible here?

for me I never even look to see where post are located. after getting to the message board main page I just click the view todays active topics button below the WI-geocaching icon in the upper left. (boy this link should be a bigger button) http://www.wi-geocaching.com/cgi-bin/ubb/search.cgi?action=getdaily

Since I point out everything…what’s “gald”?

Well hello there Flatlander! Good to see you. (You used to like it when we made “a big deal” out of things.)

Yes, we knew what he meant. In fact, while we were each posting, we were talking on the telephone. We just thought we’d interject some humor into the thread. Just a playful little exchange between us and our new friends.

    Have a lovely day Pat.

Wow I never knew a couple thread’s posted would cause so much ruckus here at WGA.

We posted thread’s to let others around the state know that our area was going to be having a large influx of caches show up, and maybe you might think of a nice trip and log them at your leisure.

Secondly, thread #2 was to again notify Wisconsinites of a unique challenge oppritunity with rewards upon completion of the challenge.

You may ask why we put it in the general forum’s of WGA?

Simple, the general section has the most traffic value to get the word out. Goes right back along the lines of Gerbner’s cultivation theory which states repeated intense exposure can influence behavior, something proven in the marketing field today.

Our mass media being the high traffic ‘general board’ of WGA posting to try and influence behavior. The internet is an extremly powerful tool, and I agree groundspeak does a wonderful job with notifying us of caches. We posted to try and get some discussion on it and get the word of mouth ‘medium’ to pick up.

I still cannot believe a few post’s by us has caused such heated discussion. To the people who started this thread and the folks who dragged it even further through the mud, you must wait for a ACTUAL problem that affects everyone to arise and THEN bring it to the public table, and not just start one on your own because your bored and want something to complain about.

My reply in reguards to my team’s activity. We’ve been around for YEARS, but as you stated just not active. We are busy busy college students, and also broke, who do this as a occasional hobby when all three of our schedules permit, which is far and few between.

Team Everest was planning on going to the event in Door County this spring, taking a weekend off from studying and doing some camping, but this experience has made me re-think that plan. This isn’t the first time we’ve been jumped on by the WGA community for a trivial issue, and by no means are we saying all WGA members are bad.

Just some need to pull the pine cone out of their rear-end and realize

    1. It’s just a hobby, it’s suppose to be fun.

    2. This is just the internet, and the internet is an open forum w/ freedom of speech. I can respect yours for posting your opinion, but with a grain of salt. Mostly because of how trivial and rude the post was, but yet once again, open forum.

    3. Lube generously to remove pine cone from back side.

    Thumbs up Team Everest!!

I really hope you re-think your decision about the campout in the Spring.. I know I’d like to meet you and your gang. Keep in mind that Peninsula State Park is a very large area.. Lots of room for folks to “spread out” there..

    Cache On!!!

    LOVE your spirit Teameverest!!

Great post and thanks for filling in the blanks for those that cannot think critically, objectively, and compassionately.

You should rethink attending the event. As a student I can say that there is nothing better than a weekend of geocaching to get the mind of the studies (of course I am a major procrastinator anyway )!

I hope I have an oppotunity to meet you as well as attempt your challenges.

For future reference … be aware that pine cones have two ends … one way they go in easy and come out hard … the other end they go in hard and come out easy.

I’m not sure if there is a deeper mean to that … but just thought I’d throw it in.

I agree that this thread has had much to do about nothing too important.

I also encorurage teameverst to rethink their attendance at the campout.

But, I am not sure about just posting what anyone really wants people to see in the general forum because it has more traffic. The other categories were obviously set up because it was felt that there was a need. As these needs occur, let’s use the other categories and they too will have more traffic. One thread will probably even lead to more in that category. Just my thoughts.

    I agree with wooden_nickel’s comments 100%.

I know I read every topic that has a little new post light next to it, and I suspect most everyone else does to. I would love to see more postings in the recommended caches topic. Frankly, I tend to just skim over the general topics.

I too hope Team Everest comes to the campout. Meeting the people behind the postings on the forums can make a big difference.

As for this topic, it has evolved into something with a whole lot of inter-personal dynamics underplaying it. And….I’m not going to say anything more about it.
