There might be another Gauntlet out there, for anyone wishing to plan a great outing… as always, the best approach to ground zero is with an open mind.

I wonder. Given the large number of photos which seem to be undoctored, as well as the fact that the coordinates actually are for the described location, rather than the owner’s subdivision, and that only a handful of people have claimed a find, I think it’s actually legit.

The cache owners openly note that they have created liar’s caches. I have no doubt that this is also one. But I’d still like to see this location.

I am confused by the concept of a liar’s cache. Is it OK to lie about finding it? 😯
The hider lies about the rating, finders lie about their adventure, why shouldn’t we all be allowed to lie about finding it?

And I was right there with you, both times! 😈

Don’t forget I was the one that kept you both safe by beating off the wild bears with a stick.

You never would have got it if I wasn’t there to give you a boost.

If I didn’t bring my Hoover craft, and my bow and arrow, you guys would of all been gored to death by that great big flying Hereford bull!!!!!

Why aren’t more people logging the find? The cache log has many names that just don’t appear on the gc.com cache page. Ecorangers, energy saver, “What next?” and Marc_54140 to name a few.

If you Google Earth it, it looks for real. In theory, I think it’s for real. At the very least, I suspect you need to some how go out on the water to the pier … now I supose once you get to the pier there could be something telling you that you don’t need to climb the pier. Again, as others have stated, why are there not more “finds” if this is really a simple cache under the cover of a difficult cache.

The author of this cache page certainly takes “over kill” to a new frontier … and I’m one to know over kill. This person either is about 500% too worth, or there’s hidden meaning in the wording. That would be the only other aspect of this cache that might need to be consider. That and how logical would it be for someone to consider flying in a helicopter and lowering an electro-magnetic to grab the cache … like the local authorities would let someone do that and like you could hold it steady enough to pick up the cache, much less accurately place it back on the pier from a helicopter.

If I had to guess … from reading the cache page and from readying my own comments above 🙂 … I’m going to guess that you get to the BASE of the pier, and there’s a “miniture pier” with a “miniture cache” … basically everything is as he says, but miniture … including the potential for bringing a toy helicopter with you and making believe your swooping down for the cache.

        Anybody buying into my theory?

As far as I know this one is real. There is quite an extensive thread on the GC forums regarding this cache if you want to look it up (too lazy to get the link). My understanding is that the Vinny an Sue team is well noted for placing difficult “Extreme Psycho” caches in their neck of the woods. If it’s a phony there are a lot of people that think it’s for real or they are playing along real well without making it seem ludicrous.

i really don’t get the concept of these liars caches. getting a group together is great fun, so if that is what it is for, then ok. but reading descriptions is what i base my caching on. i would never attempt something that sounded dangerous.
