This morning while doing the coords for my next cache I am placing, I found a patch of marijuana about ten feet from the final cache site. Since this site is very very close to both elementary and middle schools, I considered it a public service to have it taken care of.
As fate would have it, a local JPD officer was in his squad car in one of the school lots doing paperwork. I brought him over to the site so he could take appropriate measures. This was at the edge of a woods and contained about 10 plants in a remote spot, so it was obviously not just a fluke that they were there.
The officer was grateful and proceeded to point out other plants he thought were suspect also….. I was kind when I explained that he had found a patch of Motherwort and it was a common weed and explained the difference.
A geocachers work is never done!
By the way, being a biology major in college enabled me to make the ID not that fact that I went to college in the early 70’s .
