I’m coming up on another milestone and I’ve become a fan of setting goals of memorable caches for my milestones. Since asking for recommendations in the forums worked so well for my 500th, I thought I’d give it another shot. I do have one local cache I’m considering, but I’d love to hear about some other people’s thoughts…

If you could recommend one cache (in NE or Central WI) for a milestone that’s not your own and does not involve solving some cryptic puzzle or going in or on water, what would it be?

We really enjoyed doing “Along the Trail” (GCGRAM) for a nice hike with a unique twist. There is water involved, but you should be able to avoid it easily.

Close by is “Wayside Cavernous Cache” (GCA37C) that is reached from the southbound wayside on I-39 just south of Coloma. You can also take the Ice Age Trail to the wayside from the parking spot for “Along the Trail”. We have been there twice and still haven’t found the container. Wouldn’t want to try it with snow and ice, but some have done it. No water involved, just lots of rock scrambling.

I would concur on Wayside Cavernous Cache.
another memorable one I did for a milestone was French Creek, Kelly’s Island

Hey Robb, he asked for ones that are not yours, but I will vouch for this one too. 😀

That’s OK. That’s the local one I already had in mind. Just thought I’d take some other suggestions if not for this milestone then for the next!

Perhaps ….. someone needs to put out a Milestone Cache.

So, only those cachers at 1000 can claim the cache. Hmmm, now that might make some ‘older’ cachers a little upset. Hmmm, anyone want to stir the pot?

Would be considered an ALR which are banned.

I am pretty sure you can’t require a cacher be at a specific number of finds to log a cache any longer.

Maybe you could log it a 2nd time for 1000, third for 2k…4 for 4k..etc.

For a recommendation: I can see for miles and miles GC1496G Was generally easy and pretty cool, pick a nice sunny day.

Highly recommend: Tributary | Cache for Old Silver GC214BC

This would fit the bill for what you are suggesting, Marc, although it does involve a puzzle, and is, perhaps, just too darn tough anyway – and has an accompanying hex that will be placed on anyone spilling the beans on the solve’s coordinates……..(that’s supposed to be a challenge, in jest, but a challenge nonetheless.) Oh, and it’s winter friendly, too!
