I heard some rumblings of a GeoTour coming to West Bend in July.

Geotours are actually a commercial offering of Groundspeak. They are typically setup by local tourism boards or other business groups to draw people into the area. Note that setting one of these up requires a significant payment to Groundspeak to be included in the program. While the WGA could theoretically setup these caches as a geotour with Groundspeak, I personally would not think that this is a good use of money. In theory, the DNR could do it, but considering that they wouldn’t even provide stickers, I don’t think they will be coughing up money any time soon.

Make it a good ol’ Cruise In event?

      Hello –

I thought I had read on here that the state parks had GPSr units available to check out. Two people from our Geo 101 class went out to Hartman Creek State Park and asked. They were told there were none to check out.

Didn’t the WGA donate one to Hartman Creek S.P. following the last campout held there? Or did that go to the Friends group?

Is senility kicking in? Did I misunderstand? Or is it wishful thinking?

      Thanks for any additional info.

I believe that SOME State Parks have GPS units available; not all.

Gramps, we did a teaching unit with you at Hartman Creek SP for DNR employees five years ago, and at that time, most of the state parks and some of the other DNR properties had several yellow eTrex H units purchased for their use. Some had up to eight of those units in the park offices for checkout.

Maybe some of the new personnel don’t know where the units are located at the park…? Certainly Hartman Creek received a goodly amount of those receivers at that time.

With the final WGASPS cache published, the map of all SPS caches has been updated. View all the geocaches on the WGA State Park Series map.

Rock Island SP cache doesn’t appear on the map (FYI).

Rock Island SP cache shows up for me on the map.

              #1972153

I just heard from another user having Rock Island not showing up. Either refresh the page or clear cached items. How that is done depends on which browser you are using.
It may also be caches at a corporate firewall/proxy server.
In any case, the map is updated and being served correctly by the website.

It shows up for me as well.
