Any Way to Group Camp?

I recently found out about the event and would like to group camp with friends, but I guess they are filled up. Is there any way to still make the event in the group area? I don’t take up a lot of space. Honest. I registered, but will not be able to go if I have to drive four hours round trip to make it. I understand DNR rules. Is there a waiting list anywhere?
